38: The Perfect Woman

Wednesday evening came and Chris pulled up at Jacqueline's apartment to pick her up. She walked through the door wearing a light pink sleeveless, knee length, bandage dress and beige coloured high heels. Her long black curls and gold dangling earrings danced in the wind as she advanced towards him. For a second, Chris was in awe. He couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked.

"You look absolutely stunning." He said as he opened the door of the car for her.

"What a gentleman. Thank you!" She giggled.

"Anything for you beautiful." He smiled.

After they arrived at the restaurant and had settled down, Chris ordered a very expensive champagne to kick off the night and they made a toast while they waited for their food.

"Cheers to a wonderful night!" He said as he raised his glass.

"Cheers!" She replied with the same gesture.

After they finished dinner, Chris settled the bill and told Jacqueline he would like to take her somewhere else.

After 15 minutes of driving, they arrived at a very fancy hotel. Chris led her by the hand inside and they went into the elevator which took them to the 30th floor. When they arrived at the rooftop, Jacqueline gasped at how beautiful everything looked. Little flameless candle lights illuminated the place and there were rose petals scattered all over the floor. There was a red carpet leading up from the elevator to a table with 2 seats and 2 butlers stood on either side. She looked up and noticed that the sky was dazzling with millions of stars shinning over them and the air was nice and cool.

"Oh my God! This place is astounding, and the view from up here is so mesmerising."

"I'm glad you like it." Chris smiled.

"But how come there's just one table here? Where's everyone else?" She asked as she walked around the place.

"I kinda rented the space for the whole night."

"You rented this whole place for just this night? Why?" She tared at him with a surprised look on her face.

"Because I wanted you to be able to explore the place and enjoy it without feeling you're inconveniencing someone else." He replied.

"Wow! I'm... Speechless." She giggled. "Thank you Chris. I really appreciate this. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun on a date."

"Well, I'm here to change all of that Jacqueline. I want to be able to take care of you from now on. I want to be able to make you happy every single day and see this pretty smile you have on every second."

"Aw Chris!" She blushed.

"I have a question I would like to ask you, but I want to be sure that you're not going to get pissed and walk away. If you don't like where the conversation is going at any point in time, you can just tell me to shut up." He laughed.

"Hmm... Okay then. You can ask me." She replied smiling.

"Jacqueline, I really, really like you. I don't want to take it too fast because I'm enjoying the way our friendship is growing. At the same time, I'm scared of taking it too slow."

"Why?" She asked.

"Because you are everything a man needs to feel whole and complete. I'm worried that if I don't make my intentions known to you, someone else will step up and do it before me. If I lose you, I'll never be able to find someone else like you. Someonewho brings out only the best in me. This is why I have to tell you now. Even though you end up telling me to shut up, at least I'll be at peace that I made my intentions towards you clear enough.

"Nicely said." She smiled.

"Jacqueline Bailey... Will you make me the happiest man on earth by becoming my girlfriend?"

She remained silent for a few seconds and then she looked into his eyes.

"Yes Chris Hayes, I'll be your girlfriend." She smiled.

Chris laughed joyfully and threw his hands around her waist. He lifted her off the floor and spun her around a couple of times which made her laugh.

"I have something for you." He said as he gently set her feet back on the floor.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yes. Follow me." He said as he walked to the table. On it was a large navy blue case which he took in his hands and opened it.

"Huh?" She gasped. "Oh my goodness, Chris! This is beautiful!" She said as she stared at the case containing a diamond necklace, a pair of matching earrings and a bracelet.

"It's for you!" He said as he took out the necklace and unlocked the hook. "Please turn around." He smiled.

She held her hair up as he put the necklace around her neck. He then gave her the earrings and she put one on each ear and then turned to Chris.

"Oh wow! I feel so beautiful with these on and I haven't even seen how it looks on me yet." She giggled. "Thank you so much, Chris. This is the best gift ever!" She smiled.

"Anything for you my love!" He smiled and she blushed. "You're a Goddess and should be treated equally."

"Aw, thank you. So how do they look on me?" She asked.

"My darling, you give life to these diamonds. Without you, they're nothing but stones."

"I feel like I'm in a dream or some kind of fairytale." She laughed.

"I'd rather spend the rest of my life with you in a dream, than be without you in real life."

After he said this, they were both silent for a while. She raised her eyes to meet his and she noticed that he hadn't taken his eyes off her. His gaze was so intense, she could feel the love and passion stemming from his heart piercing into her soul.

"Can I give you a kiss?"

Instead of answering, she threw her hands around his neck just as he wrapped his around her waist and they kissed passionately beneath the moonlight.
