There's something soft in the touch of a stranger,
In the love of someone who doesn't owe you a thing
But, mercy, I can't forget you if I tried.
Hearing your heartbeat, I had never felt more alive.
Even though I can't remember the words you've said or the sound of your voice,
In my heart, you'll stay here and true.
If I have but one wish,
It's to be gently haunted by you
Floating peacefully in memory and my mind.
You made it so that when I fell it was into your arms.
And how safe the child in me felt
When I could sit and cry by you,
Lie by you,
Stay and know I could rely on you.
Even though I can't remember the words you've said or the sound of your voice,
In my heart, you'll stay here and true.
If I have but one wish,
It's to be gently haunted by you
Floating peacefully in memory and my mind.
All the words have been ruined,
For no one could ever string them together
And make my heart sing in your special way.
And not a single touch can come close
To the intimacy I felt in the breaths you'd take
Carefully making sure to not blow us away
In case we were but a dream and a distant memory
