billie walked into the spacious dorm room and observed the decorative setting.

she stood in the middle of the room with her hands stuffed into the pockets of her joggers, unsure of where to put herself.

"you can sit if you want." the girl laughed softly at billie as she took a seat on the small sofa against the wall.

billie sat on the far end of the sofa and sat how she normally would; leaned back with her legs spread and stretched.

the girl briefly glanced over at her chosen position and smiled to herself, before leaning over the coffee table to roll billie a joint.

"you always sit like that?"

"yeah." billie shrugged, confused as to why the way she sat was a current talking point. "why? you gotta problem with it?"

"nah, not at all." a lazy smirk replaced her charming smile, as her nimble fingers continued to prepare billie's first joint.

she handed it to billie once she was done and got up to grab two bottles of water from her mini fridge.

"i'm quinn, by the way." she introduced herself, sitting back down and unscrewing the cap.

"billie."

"spelled like the billie from greenday?" quinn picked up a lighter from her coffee table, leaned in, lit billie's joint, and then her own.

"uh, yeah." billie mumbled, feeling a little strange from quinn's sudden invasion of her personal space.

quinn complimented billie's name after taking a drag.

billie looked down at the thing between her fingers, and though the site wasn't foreign to her, her heart rate rose.

overthinking it wasn't doing anyone any good, so she simply closed her eyes and inhaled.

and then she did it again.

and again until she physically felt like she was floating on cloud 9.

every anxious bone in her body disappeared and she felt nothing but tranquility after a while. she felt content for the first time in a long time.

the usual pain she felt in her calf was merely a figment if her imagination now. all the stressful shit that was once running through her mind, ceased to exist.

she had been silently suffocating but was now liberated.

which, in all honesty, was oxymoronic because she was smoking.

billie knew people who went batshit crazy after smoking weed for the first time, and some people who were completely chill.

she was glad to say, she was one of the relaxed ones.

"you good?" quinn chuckled breathily at billie, who was staring at a random spot on the wall, with an inattentive smile on her face.

billie nodded slowly, focusing on the music that was playing it the background. she licked her lips that had quickly became dry from leaving her mouth ajar for so long, then spoke, "dude... where the fuck is your roommate at?" billie asked dumbly.
