It was New Year's Eve but Clay wasn't in the mood for a party, or any social interaction to be honest. All he wanted to do was be with his boyfriend- or even just call him for that matter, but they lived to far away to see each other on such short notice and George hadn't been picking up the phone.

You see, they have been in a long distance relationship for nearly a year now, their anniversary is actually on February 14th.

He and George had been apart for 5 months now and he hated it. They haven't got a chance to fly out to each other because of their crowded schedules and personal problems.

Clay hasn't really been the same since, his smiles seeming to become less genuine and happy, his signature wheeze only appearing in videos or on calls with George, he was like a drug that Clay needed to live, not truly being himself without being around him.

So there he stood, at the corner of the room that one of his friends, Nick, had reserved to throw a party to celebrate the new year, everyone surrounding him dancing to the blaring music or talking to their friends by the snack bar. He was grateful that no one noticed because he thought he would sound pathetic trying to explain it.

He thankfully got himself together before Nick walked up to him and dragged him to the dance floor.

"C'mon, I've been looking for you forever" he said with a smile glued to his face

"Oh sorry I just spaced out for a second" Clay responded with a forced chuckle

"It's cool dude, there's only about half an hour before the ball drops!! Hopefully 2021 won't be as bad" he spoke over the music giggling at his own joke

"Yeah, hopefully" Clay said faking a smile for the millionth time

He and Nick were lightly bouncing and nodding their heads to the music, making small talk to keep themselves entertained, about 10 minutes have passed when Clay then says out of no where,

"I just wish George was here" he sighed

"Yeah, I get that, I bet you miss him" Nick gave him a sympathetic smile

"Yeah...I really do" he said bringing his gaze towards the floor

All of a sudden he felt a tap on the back of his shoulder, he turned around to be met with twinkling chocolate brown eyes with a slight purple hue beneath them, a bright smile that could make stars envious of its beauty, and a silky voice with a noticeable accent,

"Good to hear that you missed me too" he said, his smile growing even bigger than before

"More than you could ever know" Clays eyes were watering at the sight, his voice sounding high and almost unstable

He quickly pulled his boyfriend into a hug, his tears making their way down Clays face and onto the slighly shorter boys shoulder.

"I love you" he whispered to the crying boy who had practically melted into his embrace

"I love you too bebs... so much" he mumbled into George's sweatshirt

At this point Nick was long gone and they were enjoying their moment together, Clay clinging to George, and the other boy cherishing every second and whispering phrases along the lines of, "I love you" and "I'm so happy to see you again" into his beloved boyfriends ear.

Clay eventually stoped crying and pulled away from the hug to admire the other, staring into his eyes and holding both his hands tightly, like he would disappear if he let go.

After a few seconds like this, just looking in each other's eyes, both just appreciating the presence of their second half, they could hear the yelling from everyone but they didn't move their gaze, nor did they change their position.
