Fairy Tail: An Aqaurius Quest

Repo Man Is In Town

"Another couple miles and we'll be at the guild. Ugh this would go so much faster if we could have just rode the train," I whine.

"Shh," he says attempting to quiet me.

"All I'm saying is-"

Natsu reaches out and places his index finger on my mouth. Weird. He smells the air around him and braces himself for an attack.

My hand hovers of my Fleuve d'étoiles.

"Tsk tsk tsk, I know I should have never trusted a man to do a woman's job. You guys did quite the number on my partner a couple days ago," a woman with a short purple bob haircut steps into view.

"Unless you want me to do a number on you too, I suggest you keep walking. And I ain't gonna tell you again," Natsu barks at her.

"Oh, but I'm afraid I can't do that. I'm Mara, a wizard of the Ravana Guild. We have built a weapon that could wipe out the wizard saints. But the only thing stopping our grand plan is the fact that Jude Heartfilia promised us an exceptional Celestial Wizard in exchange for protection and money. I'm just here to collect my debt so if you don't-"

"Like Hell she's going with you! You're going to have to go through me. I've got a fire in my belly!" Natsu exclaims as he bursts into flames.

Mara just laughs as he charges towards with with Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame. Before he lands the hit, his fists upturns at the last second and he hits himself.

"What the!" Natsu stammers as he tries to swing on her again.

"Mind control magic."

"Yeah well you can't control two minds at once can you?" I yell as I strike her with my whip.

"An excellent point. If only there were some way to," she says condescendingly as Natsu lands a direct hit on me.

"Oh this will just have to work. Sometimes a girl just has to make do. Adapt, and overcome," she smiles a wicked smile.

My second instinct is to reach for my keys but she has Natsu snatch them with a fiery grip and toss them one hundred yards away.

"Run," Natsu begs me. But I can't. I can't just leave him here with this psychopath.

"Dammit Lucy run! I can't control-" he kicks me hard in the stomach. I can't help but double over in pain.

"I won't leave you! I'll die before I leave you!" I yell as I try to dodge his attacks.

"Hurry up and capture her!" Mara barks as Natsu clips me in the jar.

"Lucy, please!" He pleads in desperation.

"Now this is interesting. How endearing. I can feel you fighting the mind control so hard, but the longer I've got you, the harder it will be for you to break it. I thought you were supposed to be the Great Salamander! The one who slayed the Demon King Zeref? And you can't even properly incapacitate your partner here?"

"You have to fight this Natsu! I know you can, I believe in you!"

He holds my hair in one hand and punches me over and over again with the other. I can't move. I'm trapped.

"Oh how cute, do you hear that Natsu? She believes in you. Would be a shame if-" she twirls her finger in the air and Natsu kicks me so hard I'm sent flying in the air, the only thing that stops my aereil desent is a boulder that protrudes from the ground. My head hits the boulder hard first. Then the rest of my body slams against it and slides to the ground in a limp mess.

My hair is wet and I can't get up anymore. He's going to kill me. I'm sure of it. The love of my life is about to end me.

The warm puddle is inviting and it has spread all over the back of my head. I'm fighting to stay conscious but I'm so sleepy.

"What have you done?! Master will be so furious!" Mara rambles anxiously.

"Lucy!" Natsu races towards me. I try to focus on the sound of his voice but it's so hard. All I see is black. All I smell is copper. I'm so cold all of a sudden. If only Natsu were here.

"Lucy!" He's closer now. Much closer. As if he's almost right next to me.

I feel him pick me up halfway and hug me, blood has soaked my hair red.

"Lucy," his voice quivers, "Lucy please. No. No" I can feel his warm tears hit my cheeks.

After the beating I just received, I don't have the strength to reach out to him. I can't move at all. I can't even manage to open my eyes.

"Lucy!" He shakes me with more urgency, "don't die. Please. Lucy, you promised me. Please! You promised me forever! Don't leave me..." He rocks me back and forth and I pass out.

I am dying. No happy ending. No kids. No family. No Natsu. No guild. This is it. I'm dying on the ground.

"Don't be scared Lucy, I will protect you," I hear in a small voice. It can't be Mara's. The voice jars me out of my sleep and Natsu is gone. My eyes peer around and I can't distinguish where the voice is coming from.

"He's not even thinking! He's a monster! No, he's a dragon!" Mara yelps. Then I felt it. Intense heat. I turn my head just enough and a pink fire dragon has pinned Mara under it's scaly paw.

"You killed Lucy! I'm gonna melt your face off!" Natsu shouts. No the dragon shouts.... In Natsu's voice.

Natsu is a dragon!

"Don't be afraid Lucy, I won't let you die," and then I realize who the familiar girly voice is, Zera. Master Mavis' first best friend. I couldn't see her until she flew in my eyeline. But there she was in all her tiny glory. A fairy.

"Tail," I murmured. I wanted to know if she had one.

"T-t- tail?," I tried again.

Reality rocks me as I realize that this is not a dream. She's a fairy. Of all things, a fairy has come to my rescue. And Natsu is a dragon. Oh my God, Natsu!

"Natsu..?" I breathe out weakly.

She ignores me, "save your strength. My magic can only help recover your strength so much. You'll need to be still, otherwise I don't know if you will make it," she says very seriously. It's hard to listen to someone so tiny but I oblige.

Natsu snuffs out Mara for good and bellows out a fire roar in agony after. When I glance back, he's a human again screaming in pain. But he doesn't have a scratch on him.

"Natsu..." I whisper, hoping that he can hear me and be comforted.

"I keep. My... Promises," I sputter out.

After I get that out I pass out completely, letting the darkness drag me in.
