On the lane of memories

They drove out of the town, and drove for like 2  hours. Beam could not understand why a resident of a powerful business family had to be situated this far away from the city. It was more deserted than a suburban area, houses situated much far away from each other. Mostly dull, lonely lands.

It was past midnight. And Beam was getting drowsy when Forth drove through a web of dark lanes. "In here it would be very convenient for Forth to kill me and hide me if he wanted '' he thought sleepily.

Beam jerked awake when the car suddenly stopped. He blinked and straightened himself, looking around to take a grasp on where the heck they were, only to realise that the Forth had stopped the car Infront of a huge iron gate. In the dimmed light of the head lights, he could see the silhouette of his lover, opening the gates that apparently lead to another long passage, lying under the shades of the two lines of tall trees on either side of it.

Forth made a noise of surprise when he saw Beam staring at him with wide eyes when he returned to his seat. "Oh! You are awake" he grinned at his young lover. "Welcome to Jaturaphoom estate"

Beam scoffed, as they drove through the passage, which soon opened to a deserted lawn that was spread through a huge area.

"Why did you have to live in this rural rustic area? It's quite inconvenient for a family like yours"

Forth gave him a disbelieving look. "Rural rustic? We are barely out of the suburbs!"

Beam raised an eyebrow.

Forth sighed. "Yeah I do admit that the area is quite deserted. But I think this used to have a larger population back in my grandfather's days"

"How did you go to school? It must have been like a 2 hours drive?'

"We were homeschooled"

Forth's eyes held a much deeper story. But Beam did not ask.

When they drove a bit further he could see the white magnificent mansion that stood regal, yet lonely in the darkness of the night. Forth pulled into the driveway and stopped Infront of the majestic residence.

When he got out, he walked around the car to open the door for Beam, like a proper gentleman he is.

"Are you ready?" He asked, holding out his hand for Beam.

He stepped out, placing his much smaller hand on Forth's. "Why are you asking that? Should I be worried about what's inside the house? Are there ghosts?"

Forth chuckled at Beam feigning fear. "There are…many ghosts actually"

Beam looked up to Forth's eyes.

They looked….sad.

"My father's ghost, my mother's ghost…..my own ghost…"

He led Beam through the portico. "There was only one murder. But many of us died that day...this house will forever be haunted by the ghosts of our past"

Beam said nothing. Just held his hand tight, smiling beautifully at him. I'm here.

Forth opened the huge main door. "This is the first time I'm stepping in after 20 years"

The interior was very surprisingly clean. Didn't look like a house that was abandoned for 20 years at all.

"I hired servants to keep the house clean and manage the property" Forth stated, as if he could read his mind.

Beam walked into the living area which was huge and spacious. The gigantic couch set, the grand piano, and the fireplace….

Beam remembered the place. It was on one of Forth's paintings…

Forth's very first painting…

Forth's very first murder…

"I didn't even let them remove the couch. Just cleaned it" Forth placed a hand on the arm rest. "It was soaked in blood"

Without saying anything, Beam moved himself on to that certain couch and laid down on it. He gave Forth a strange look. It was filled with amusement and a certain kind of madness. "I feel like having sex on this…" Beam's voice was musical.

Forth stepped closer, looking at him with the same kind of insanity and the desire of a predator.

Beam is crazy…

It amused him….

His long fingers wrapped around Beam's slender and  delicate neck. Without even flinching, he tilted his head to at Forth. "What do you know about me?"

Beam's eyes never left Forth's, looking at him with that determinant and fearlessness. With that craziness. "I know that you killed your father...right on this couch"

Forth was still as a statue. So was the grip around Beam's neck.

"I know that you killed many of your past lovers"

"What else?" Forth's voice was hoarse.

"That's all I know…"

Forth's grip around his neck loosened and his thumb was tracing Beam's lips. He looked at him dreamily. "Weren't you afraid?"

Beam cupped his lover's hand, and leaned into the touch. Forth closed his eyes. He was losing his touch on reality. For a moment he couldn't believe that he was not dreaming.

Beam whispered.

"When I found out, it was too late to be afraid"

Even though Forth couldn't see it, he knew that Beam's gaze was so soft on him. Cherishing and loving him, even with his eyes.

With a defeated sigh, Forth sat on the floor Infront of Beam. And stared at the fireplace that hadn't felt the warmth of a fire for decades.

"It did not start because I killed my father. But it definitely started with me killing my father. It was inevitable"

Forth looked down, at the tiled floor. "Father was almost never around. Most of the time I even forgot that I had a father. My mother was not a stay at home mom either. But she was much more available. And I loved her more than anything…"

"They always fought. That was what they did whenever he was around. He was very abusive to my mother. Every Time she cried, it was because of him. I wished he was dead. I wanted him dead"

"I wanted him dead and I simply killed him. It was not influenced by an adrenaline Rush, hatred or rage. It wasn't carefully planned either. I wanted him dead and I executed my desire. And that was it"

"Killing was never a big deal for me after that," he admitted. "I never had a regret, a remorse regarding what I did. And my grandfather saw a golden opportunity in my potential and took me with him all the way back to Hong Kong"

Beam was listening attentively. His perfect delicate face was expressionless, looking at him intently.

"And while I was completing my high school diploma, he had me training as an assassin"

His young lover's gaze was burning into his soul. He scoffed. "I had no choice of course. My position as a Quorum heir was at risk"

He looked at Beam, with such desperation. "And at that time, that was all I had…"

"He could have disowned me at any moment. He still can…"

He looked up, as if he already resigned himself to a certain fate. "He got his hands on information about….my…

… birth…

...that questioned my right  to remain as an heir…

And abused that fact, until there is nothing left of me…"
