I love you

Arthur P/O/V:

I stare at Merlin over the top of the parchment I am supposed to be reading. He looks very peaceful and is reading a book full of odd looking runes and symbols. He looks up and I quickly look down at the parchment in front of me. "Arthur are you alright?" I nod "I'm fine Merls, why?" he shrugs "You seem distracted." I put down my parchment and lean back in my chair "Are you free later tonight?" he nods and I smile "Would you like to go out riding?"

He nods "Sounds great." I nod and smile watching as he starts reading again obviously completely absorbed in his book. I lean my head on my hand watching as a bit of hair falls over his face "Arthur your staring." I blush slightly and look down at the paper on the desk "No I'm not." he walks over leaning on the desk so our noses are almost touching "You were staring sire." I feel my face heating up and he grins kissing me lightly "See you later."

I smile and watch him leave, I love him. I just hope he feels the same way. I spend the rest of the day tending to royal duties and training with the knights. Around five I have a quick wash and find a clean shirt and trousers. Pulling on my boots I walk down to the kitchens and pack a hamper with food and two water skins. The cook shoos me out the kitchen scowling and I walk quickly to the stables asking the stable boy to saddle mine and Merlin's horses. He nods and smiles "Of course your Majesty." I walk back into the courtyard and leave the food hamper, blanket and several pillows on the floor. 

Merlin appears and I grin kissing his cheek "Hey." he smiles "So where are we going?" I shrug slightly "Where ever the wind takes us." he chuckles "That's cute." the stable boy appears leading out our two horses. "Thank you." he bows his head "Of course your majesty." he helps Merlin attach the hamper and other things onto his horse and the two of us mount our horses riding through the lower town and into the forest. 

We ride in a comfortable silence before arriving in a small clearing by a river. "Is here alright?" Merlin nods "Yea." I dismount and walk over to Merlin helping him down. "I don't need help." I smile and kiss his cheek lightly slightly "Well I wanted to." he blushes a light pink and lays out the blanket. I sit next to him and brush a stray strand of hair from his face "Hungry?" he shrugs "I could eat." I unpack the hamper and hand him one of the water skins "Thanks." I nod and lean back slightly on one of the cushions. "How was your day?" he smiles "It was alright did chores and helped Gaius. Other than that not much. How was your day?"

I shrug slightly "Boring." he chuckles and picks up a grape "Catch." I roll my eyes but open my mouth anyway. He throws it and it hits my cheek "Hey," he laughs "You missed." I scowl "Your just a bad thrower." he shrugs and throws another up in the air catching it easily in his mouth. "I disagree." I laugh and lean up kissing him gently "Listen I have something I need to tell you." I run a hand through his hair and he lays next to me "What is it?" I smile and cup his face gently in one hand "I love you Merlin." he grins and leans forward "I love you to Clotpole." I roll my eyes and kiss him gently whispering "I love you." onto his lips.
