I lay in Castle's room for what felt like an eternity.
I couldn't move.
I couldn't breathe.
I couldn't leave.
Castle wouldn't let me.
He was afraid that if I left his sight, I would go visit Juliette.
He said that with Delalieu's power, that's not a good idea.
I sat up in my position and coughed loud enough for Castle to hear.
"Castle," I croak. "Can you please tell me Delalieu's power? Please!"
He comes over with a glass of water and urges me to drink it.
I start drinking it and that's when I realize how thirsty I am.
Castle sits down beside me and lays a hand on my thigh. His touch is so fatherly, so full of love, so gentle that it calms me down.
"Okay Warner," he says smoothly. "I'll tell you. But you have to promise me to not to freak out."
I nod at him, which seals the deal.
He takes a deep breath.
"Delalieu's power is one of the most dangerous power that has ever been known to us," he explains. "His power is very complicated for him. He must learn to use it very cautiously. In order for him to use his power, he must have an object that he loves and hold very dear to him. That would be the necklace."
My jaw tightens. I put my hand on Castles.
"Basically, he can possess an object," he continues.
I tighten my grip on Castles hand. He doesn't seem to mind.
"You mean-" my words fail me.
"Yes. He can split a part of his soul into an object," he says.
I don't remember how to breathe.
"And when the object that has part of his soul in it comes into the hand of another, it controls them. They become one of his 'soldiers'," he finishes.
I realize I'm no longer sitting on a bed.
I'm kneeling on the floor with my head in my hands and I can't breathe and my face is so hot and I can feel anger steaming out of my ears.
"So you're trying to tell me," I look at Castle. "That Delalieu split part of his soul into the necklace that my mother gave him. And he forced that necklace onto Juliette, so now he controls her? And he can make her do whatever he wants her to do?"
"Exactly," he affirms.
I stand up and exhale very deeply. I run my hands through my hair and walk around in circles.
"Wait, so if we get that necklace off-"
Castle cuts me off.
"It's not as easy as it sounds. If he really wants to control her, which he does, he would have it locked in her mind that she can never take the necklace off," he says with a shaky voice.
I blink for a second too longer than I should.

The world seems to darken with every passing second.

"Wait. Castle?" I ask.
He looks at me, waiting for me to talk.
"Why couldn't you remember who he was after you passed out?" I ask.
He switches his gaze from me and looks at his feet.
"That's what I don't know," he says blankly. "I wish I did."
I nod and head towards the door, but Castle is in front of me.
"Warner. You can't leave. If you do, he'll kill you. You need to be safe here."
I look into his eyes with a deadly glare.
"IF I JUST SIT HERE, NOT ONLY WILL I ROT AND DIE BUT SO WILL JULIETTE! I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO SAVE HER, AND IF THAT MEANS THAT I HAVE TO GIVE MY OWN LIFE, THEN SO BE IT!" I yell at him.
I regret it the second the words leave my mouth.
He moves away from the door and gives me a quick, angry nod.
I swing open the door and walk out, letting it slam shut behind me.
