"Jeremy?"

Jeremy gulped as he stared up at Randel, stopping himself from yawning as the bleak night sky towered above them.

"U-um... Yes? W-what do you have t-to...address..."

Jeremy's voice died down the more he studied Randel's features.

He was shaking from either the cold or from some other cause that Jeremy hoped he hadn't identified.

His pupils were shrunken down, dark circles visible under his eyes.

And worst of all...

A smile that was so twisted that it sent shivers down Jeremy's spine.

"Where's the book?"

Jeremy's eyes went wide.

"W-what-"

"I'm tired of waiting," Randel stated through gritted teeth, glaring down at him.

"I am tired of waiting for something that will never happen. I want to do it myself if you're not going to. Give me the book."

Jeremy scrambled back a little, stopping before he hit the bush that he had hidden the book in.

"B-but Randel, if you do-"

"I DON'T CARE!"

Randel took a step forward, breathing heavily as his grey form shivered.

"I don't care if he's going to come back with some other creature or whatever. We'll just do what we did last time and then everything will be fine, even if you all have to face trouble again!"

"You d-don't understand!" Jeremy replied, shrinking back as he saw the pure malice on Randel's face.

"M-my latest r-research... M-my latest spell... It will bring an era of darkness to Pepperland!"

Randel blinked for a moment.

He smirked.

"Of c-course..."

He began to chuckle.

"Y-you know Jeremy? I... I know the truth about w-what's going on around here. You and everyone else have always b-been against me ever s-since that day that I c-came into this c-cruel world."

Tears formed in the corners of his eyes, though he continued to chuckle quietly.

"I w-was just a s-second Ringo... T-that's all w-who I was... A... Lesser... Ringo. None of you ever cared about me. You all just cared about Ringo and his safety, not mine!"

He took another step towards Jeremy, who stared up in fear.

"You just didn't say the truth out loud because you didn't want to hurt Ringo's feelings. You all cared for him, not me! That's why he's gone! Someone just decided to finally send me the message."

Randel grabbed his head and gripped his hair, shaking uncontrollably.

"Now that the only person who ever cared about me is gone, you all can treat me like the piece of rubbish that all of you think I am! Well, YOU KNOW WHAT!?"

Without a second's hesitation, Randel grabbed Jeremy and held him in a tight hold, squeezing him so hard that it made it hard to breath.

"I'M SICK OF IT. TELL ME WHERE THE BOOK IS NOW OR I'LL KILL YOU!"

Jeremy struggled to breath, staring into Randel's eyes, seeing that there was no point in trying to reason with him.

He coughed.

"I-In... b-bush, t-there..."

He turned his head to the bush behind him, and Randel stared at it.

"N-now p-please..."

Jeremy turned his head back to Randel, starting to feel faint.

"D-don't... H-harm a... h-hair..."

Randel loosened his grip on Jeremy, taking in a deep breath.

In an instant, he punched Jeremy in the head so hard that he heard something crack in his fist.

Letting out a yelp, he dropped Jeremy to the ground, who was now out cold.

Randel rubbed his hand, which now had a bruise on it, and quickly went over to the bush.

After a short moment of searching, Randel felt something hard within the plant and pulled it out.

The book...

Randel smiled wide, eye twitching as he opened it and glanced over the pages.

Once he reached the last page with writing on it, he paused, frantically reading the text.

This spell must be recited at sunrise, or the speaker will demise.

Randel looked towards the horizon, seeing a faint, dull pink color slowly growing in the distance.

He laughed.

"FINALLY! IN JUST A FEW MINUTES, IT'LL ALL BE OVER!"

He fell to his knees, tears flowing down his face as he smiled.

"THEY WILL SEE THAT THEY'RE WRONG!"

He laughed once more.

"TODAY... I START TO LIVE AGAIN!"

He fell forward, hiding the book under him as he laughed maniacally.

However, in his moment of insanity, Randel didn't notice an awakened Paul staring at him in the distance...
