"Hey... um, Jeremy?"
The emptiness in Randel's voice made Jeremy shake a little as he looked up at him, taking his attention away from the small faded pink flower he was sitting in front of.
His form, like Randel himself, was entirely colourless.
"O-oh... Randel..."
Jeremy uncharacteristically paused, looking down for a moment.
Randel was not surprised.
"Well... how you are doing... I can tell..."
Sighing, Randel slowly sat down in front of Jeremy, another boom of thunder sounding in the distance.
"I... I want to a-ask you something."
"Um... W-what is it? I p-promise, I'll listen to e-every bit."
Randel bit his lip, feeling an ounce of nervousness form within him as he stared up at the dull sky for a moment.
"I..."
He sighed.
"I want Ringo back."
Jeremy stared at Randel for a moment, not knowing how to respond.
"B-but-"
"I know Jeremy... H-he's dead..."
Randel focused his gaze on the small bundle of grey fur in front of him, blinking his tears back.
"Now... I... I k-know that you're s-smart, and... Please... Is... I-is it possible to... um..."
Jeremy looked away for a moment, trying to think about how he should respond.
"Randel... Yes, I can try to find a way to resurrect him, but..."
He sighed heavily, looking down.
"Y-you already know... um... last time... It was dim..."
Randel nodded slowly, knowing what he was referring to.
"Yeah sure, m-my resurrection did end... badly, but you weren't the one who did it. A-after all... y-you knew the m-methods that t-those three blue meanies were u-using were not f-flawless. I know that, but..."
Jeremy slowly looked up at Randel, biting his lip.
"Is... can there b-be a way... a f-flawless way?"
"Well... I can t-try, but..."
Jeremy looked down again, not wanting to stare at Randel.
"I c-can't say if I'll figure i-it out... or what..."
Randel stayed silent for a moment, shivering slightly as the rather cold temperature dropped even lower.
Slowly, he opened his mouth.
"I w-want him back... I... I need him back..."
He turned his head to the side, staring out into nothingness.
"Please... just... Just promise me that y-you'll try... You tried to do the same thing for Ringo t-to get me back... And..."
He gulped.
"I really mean flawless... I don't think I can handle being at the m-mercy o-of that... that c-creature again, even though I'll k-know that it's n-not going to b-be the same one as b-before..."
Randel closed his eyes and lowered his head.
"I... I just c-can't g-go through all of t-the trouble again, and... a-and..."
He leaned back, supporting his weight on his hands.
"I w-went through enough... We all did. Is it t-too much to ask that we can just live on h-happily?"
Jeremy thought for a moment.
Eventually, he sighed.
"I... I promise I'll t-try to find a way..."
Randel slowly turned his head towards him and opened his eyes.
"It's... g-going to take m-much longer than a day."
"I don't care h-how long it takes. A week. 2 weeks. 3. Just... J-just please f-find a way... I just want to... to live again..."
"I understand..."
Jeremy looked up at him.
"This grief... I can't stand..."
With no response, Randel slowly stood up.
"Well... I... I guess I'll see you later then... Maybe."
"Okay, that's fine, but please, take care of yourself and don't cross the line..."
Sighing, Randel turned around and walked away from Jeremy, going towards the bandstand in the distance in order to escape the rather desolate place Pepperland had become.
