JASON
The other three looked to Jason to tell the camp the news. He really didn't want to cry in front of the whole camp, but he felt like it was his duty to give them the truth.
"Um, attention, everyone?" Jason stood on the head table in the dining hall. "I have a really terrible announcement, to uh, to make," his voice broke. He rubbed the back of his neck trying to gather his courage.
"Everyone here knows Percy Jackson, right?" Jason wasn't ready for what he had to say next. Nods and murmurs in the crowd made him terrified.
"He's... dead."
Everything was silent for a few moments, until one of the Stoll brothers burst into laughter. Everyone looked at him like he was insane.
"Cmon guys, Percy Jackson? Dead? Those two words don't go together, man. That dude went through Tartarus and came back." Campers nodded in agreement, "This has to be a joke."
"Its not a joke!" Jason snapped, and everyone startled. Jason was usually so soft-spoken. His eyes started welling up with tears. "I- I'm sorry, I can't-" He started to back away from his self-made soap box.
"He's really dead?" Asked a small voice in the front. Andy, Jason thought her name was.
"Yeah," Jason said softly.
"He-" Andy sniffed, "he made me a water kitten. And brought me here."
The entire camp exploded into chaos.
ANNABETH
Annabeth had a good dream for the first time in probably years. She was sitting on the docks, holding hands with Percy, when he looked her straight in the eyes and said, "you have to let me go, okay? Move on with your life."
Annabeth nodded.
"Promise me. Ok? Promise me you'll try."
"I promise! Geez." she pushed him playfully.
He smiled sadly. "I'm gonna miss you, Wise Girl."
Then, he faded away.
Annabeth expected to wake up in his arms, him playing with her hair or whispering sweet nothings into her ear. But she woke up, alone, in the infirmary. She was confused, and stood up, when everything came rushing back. Percy.
Annabeth ran outside only to be stopped by Will.
"Where is he?" She asked frantically, scratching and kicking Will, but he wouldn't let go.
"I'm sorry, Annabeth. There was nothing I could do. He was already gone."
"no," she whispered, and Will just hugged her. Annabeth thrashed and struggled and screamed until she had no more energy, and then she melted into the hug and started to cry.
in the months that followed:
Camp Jupiter was notified, and much of the camp came to honor him at his funeral.Hazel, Frank, and Reyna were absolute messes.
Frank turned into a bulldog and refused to turn back to normal; or maybe he just couldn't. Millions of dollars worth of gems and precious stones came up outside the Hades cabin, and Hazel screamed at anyone that came near. Reyna stood silent, trembling, trying not to cry in front of her camp, and failing.
Annabeth had to go and tell Percy's mom. She was devastated. She didn't believe Annabeth at first, but once she saw Annabeth's face she wouldn't come out of her room for days.
Nico tried to contact him in the Underworld, but he wasn't able to get a signal and talk to him. The son of Hades cried for days, with Will comforting him and attached to his hip.
Nico and Will started officially dating.
Leo and Calypso came back just in time for Percy's funeral. They were obviously expecting a welcome party, or at least a punch in the gut, but everyone looked sullen and heartbroken. He went and found Jason and Piper; they were inseparable now; Jason gave him a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes and Piper barely looked at him. Leo was terrified, and asked them what happened. They told him that Percy died, and he stood there, stricken, for a long time. Then he walked back to Calypso and broke down. She was surprised, but she hugged him and asked him what happened. He told her that Percy was dead, wiping away tears. She looked devastated and hugged Leo while he cried, and definitely shed a few tears herself. They flew off on Festus and no one has heard from them since. Leo blames himself; if he had left the physicians cure with Piper, Percy could still be alive.
Annabeth became distant and guarded. She pushed away all of her friends and spent most of her time in the alone in the Poseidon cabin or walking on the beach. She never touched the water, though. She walked around in a daze, hardly talking to others and spending every moment in Poseidon's cabin that smelled just like Percy. She wore his sweatshirts and closed her eyes, trying to pretend he was there with her.
Jason is now way too overprotective of Piper. He was terrified of what might happen to her if he even took his eyes off of her for a second. Piper rolled her eyes, but secretly she was relieved; if Jason never let her out of his sight, she wouldn't let him out of her sight either.
Annabeth sees Percy's dad sitting at his favorite spot on the dock every once in a while, talking to the nymphs or just watching the sunset. Every time, she smiles sadly, and cries.
Annabeth has no one to help her through her horrible nightmares. At night she screams and cries, although it was worse in the Athena cabin. When Chiron noticed they all had bags under their eyes; he asked why. All of them bowed their heads and said Annabeth was screaming at night, but they didn't want her to feel kicked out of the cabin. Chiron moved Annabeth permanently to the Poseidon cabin. Poseidon didn't seem to mind.
Chiron didn't come out of the big house for weeks, and Mr. D looked suspiciously red-eyed, like he had been crying. Annabeth knew that he knew everyone in camp's names; he just said them wrong as a way to cope in case one of them died.
PERCY
Percy floated through the darkness for a really long time. He thought about how sad he had made Annabeth, how sad he had made everyone. He really thought about everything in his life. He had lived a good life. He was happy. He remembers hearing faint singing, and trying to reach it, but he only floated down, down, until it stopped. He just floated through the darkness, until-
Cold hands pried him out. He was misty- definitely a ghost. He ended up in just a white room. No decorations, or ornaments. Just white.
"Perseus Jackson." Three old ladies hummed.
"I guess that's me,"
"Your string of fate has not been fully cut. You have a choice. You can go back to the land of the living; in a new body and no memory. You can be reborn as a baby, or you can go to Elysium."
Percy thought long and hard.
"In my new body... will I be the same age? And... can you set me down somewhere specific?"
...
(things are taking a turn for the better. hehe. luv ya <3)
