you need to stop

"Do you want some tea?" Rosie asked, reappearing from her son's bedroom. She closed the door quietly, not wanting to wake Bailey up - it was already way past his bedtime.

"I actually just made some for us" Margaret motioned to two steaming cups on the kitchen counter. "Sorry for going through your cabinets but we both know it's gonna be a long night."

"No worries," Rose smiled, "I want you to feel at home."

The girls took a cup each and sat at the couch in the spacious living room. Rosie looked at Meg's face unsure of what to expect.

"I assume you have a lot of questions" the redhead spoke quietly after taking a sip of her tea.

"Well, obviously. Who's the guy?" Rose asked, clearly referring to Peep.

"His name's Gustav, Gus. I met him at a bar three days ago. He helped me a lot" Margaret's voice got quieter at the end of her sentence.

"You overdosed again, didn't you?" the anger in the brunette's voice was evident. Meg only nodded her head, too ashamed to even look Rose in the eyes. "Meggie, you need to stop, chica..."

"I know," the girl sighed, "but what's the point tho? Bella's dead, Zach cheated on me with Bianca..."

"But you have me and Bailey!" Rosie interrupted her friend. "And just because you lost your sister, doesn't mean you don't have a brother anymore."

"Cameron started drinking again," she said, pointing to her bruised neck, "he would've strangled me if it wasn't for Gus."

"Have you talked to him after it happened?"

"No," Meg shook her head, "I've been sleeping at Gustav's."

"Meggie! You've known him for what? Three days? That's too soon to get with someone!" Rose exclaimed angrily.

"I haven't slept with him!" The redhead quickly jumped to her defense. "Nothing happened, Rosita, I'm a junkie not a whore." Margaret laughed at her self-deprecating joke, but quickly stopped seeing the expression on her friend's face.

"Don't go around kidding 'bout that shit, chica... You're gonna get yourself killed sooner than you realize, if you do." The brunette said with all seriousness and squeezed Meggie's hand.

"Sorry."

"Are you working tomorrow?" Rosie asked sensing that her friend was already fed up with the subject of their conversation. Meg shook her head no as she took a sip of her tea. "Do you have anything planned then?"

"I was thinking about going home, actually, I need to sort everything out with my brother" the redhead shrugged. "Why? Do you need me to do something?"

"I was hoping you could babysit Bailey until I come back from work," Rose admitted, "Ian's in Chicago for a work thing and I'd rather not send Bails to school now, he needs to get better."

"Don't worry, Rosie, I'll stay with him 'till you get back,' she reassured with a smile, "we'll have fun."

"Not too much fun, tho" the brunette laughed, pointing her index finger at Margaret.

"Okay, mom" Meg pouted jokingly and rolled her eyes. "Speaking of fun, do you mind if I go for a smoke?"

"The balcony is yours, chica" the Latina sighed, not too fond of her friend's addiction. "I think I'll head to sleep now, the guest room is all set for you."

"Thank you, Rosita, seriously" Meggie whispered. "Sleep well."

"You too, chica," she whispered back with a tired smile, "goodnight."
