A mistake. That's what it was. They should not be kissing. They definitely shouldn't. They should've stopped as soon as their lips touched for the first time - but yet, they kept going. There weren't any fireworks, even though they both definitely felt butterflies in their stomachs. That, and a weird sense of belonging, fitting together almost perfectly. Meg was the one to pull away and she only did that because she had ran out of breath quite a while ago.
Hearts racing, shaky breaths and utter confusion. Their eyes met yet again and neither of them knew what to do or to even think.
"This is wrong," Meg whispered, still trapped underneath Peep's body, not that she really minded that, but who would care?
"You pulled me in" Gus argued but still a small smile was gracing his face - he was reminiscing the kiss, how Margaret's soft lips felt against his.
"I know!" she whined, closing her eyes in defeat.
"I realize that this is like serious and all, but you just sounded like Monica Geller" Gustav said, laughing at his own joke.
"Who?" the redhead asked rather confused.
"The chick from Friends, the clean freak" he explained and finally rolled off Meg's body to simply lay next to her. "Have you not watched the show?"
"I have, I just didn't connect the dots," a shrug followed her silent giggle. "It's a good show," she admitted. After that no words were spoken as the two lied in silence, neither of them knowing what to say.
"We don't have to talk about it," Gustav whispered, turning his head to look at the girl. She was biting her lip, her brows slightly furrowed, a small line in between them - even though she was deep in her thoughts, she still heard Peep and nodded at his words.
"This happened in the heat of the moment," she stated quietly, "it didn't mean anything."
Except the kiss meant everything. And they both knew that.
"So, the movie?"
"Right."
"Aight, how about the shining?" Gus smirked.
"Not a chance, man" she simply laughed in response.
"Oh, c'mon! It's such a good movie!" he argued, even tho he already knew there was absolutely no chance of watching a scary movie with the girl. Meggie just shook her head, her lips still curled up in a smile. "Aight, what do you want to watch then?"
"I dunno, you can choose. Just not a horror, okay?" a small yawn followed her words as she cuddled closer into Peep's side to get comfortable. Her eyelids felt heavier with every passing second and the warmth of Gus' embrace made her fell safe enough to fall asleep.
"I'm putting a horror on since you're falling asleep anyway," a soft mumble of agreement made Gus smile. And then it hit him again, what the fuck was happening to him? Since when did he get so soft? He barely fucking knew her! And the damn kiss... Did she really mean it when she said that it meant nothing? Because it sure as hell meant something to Peep. Not that he was catching feelings, obviously, cause he definitely wasn't, right?
Gustav shook his head as if to get rid of all the thoughts. That didn't seem to do much, except the sudden movement woke Meg up. She lazily raised her head to look at Gus, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, fine," he said after he cleared his throat. "Wanna go for a smoke?"
The girl agreed and so they both got up from the bed and headed downstairs. It was already dark outside but that didn't stop them from going out to the small garden. Sitting on the wooden deck they both lit a joint each and enjoyed smoking in silence. That kiss messed with their heads more than it should, leaving them both confused as hell.
The sound of a doorbell caused both of them to snap out of their thoughts. "Are you expecting someone?" Meg asked softly, to which Gus just shrugged and shook his head.
"I'll be right back, boo." Peep stood up and went to open the door, while Margaret sat quietly and smoked her weed in peace. That was until she heard a woman's voice, almost immediately recognizing that it was the girl that came to see Gus last time Meg slept over. The one that Wiggy called a slut, Lydia? Lily?
"Layla..." oh, that's right. Her name was Layla. "You can't just come here unannounced every time you want to."
The redhead watched the two through the glass door, she didn't mean to eavesdrop but it was kinda impossible since she didn't even have to try - they were talking quite loudly. Meg didn't know what to do with herself, but one thing that she knew was that coming inside right now was not really an option. So she just stood outside, shivering slightly, feeling as her fingers went numb from the chilly air.
"Peep, come on, you're talking as if you didn't show up at my door last night just to fuck me and then left!" Layla's words kinda stung Meg's heart - could it be that the kiss actually meant nothing to him? Did he just use the opportunity he was offered to make out with her? "C'mon..." The brunette grabbed Gus' hand and started walking upstairs and it was literally painful for Meg to watch the boy mindlessly following his friend, leaving her alone in the cold. The redhead sighed and after waiting for a little bit longer she finally came back into the warm living room.
Her phone and all of her belongings were upstairs so she couldn't even busy herself by scrolling through social media. After the unsuccessful lookout for the remote Meg huffed angrily and walked into the kitchen. She was on a mission to find some booze, that would definitely help her get her mind off of everything. Going through the cabinets, she stumbled upon an unopened bottle of whiskey, "That'll do," she mumbled to herself and grabbed the bottle.
When walking back to the couch Meg noticed the TV remote laying on an armchair, so she grabbed it before sitting down. Turning on the device she started looking for something at least a bit interesting to watch, taking a sip straight from the bottle every now and then. Oh, how she hoped the TV would cancel out the sounds coming from upstairs.
After a while of watching some dumb reality show, Margaret heard the sound of the front door being opened. She lazily turned around to see who it was and smiled friendly when she noticed Wiggy walking in.
"Hey," the girl slurred, which caused Wiggy to pay attention to the half empty whiskey bottle in her hands. "Why are you back so soon?"
"Hey, Ma... I just wasn't feelin' it," he smiled, walking over to sit next to her. "Where's Peep? Why are you sitting here all alone?" Before Margaret even had a chance to answer, a loud moan came from upstairs. "Oh... Is that Layla?"
"Yup," the redhead popped the 'p' and took another long sip from the bottle. "You want some?"
Wigs just nodded and took the bottle from his friend. "How long have you been sitting here?"
"Is 'way too long' an acceptable answer?" she spat sarcastically, and just shook her head. "This is really embarrassing, you know?" she admitted quietly, turning her head to look at Wiggy, a sad look in her eyes. The only person she actually somehow knew here left her all to herself and got busy with some chick.
"Aight, here's what were gonna do," Wigs put an arm over Meg's shoulders and pulled the girl closer to him. "We'll order some food and we'll have a sleepover in my room, how does that sound?"
"Can we also talk shit about Gus?" Margaret asked with a shy smile.
"Hell yeah, we can talk shit about Gus!"
