Chapter Twenty-Nine

Zamaria

I'm fucking terrified, but it's worth it.

His words kept ringing loudly in her head like a broken record. Filling the emptiness in her soul with something warm and light. There weren't any words she could say to convey the same feelings. If she was honest, she wasn't sure how she truly felt about him. Zamaria just wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.

It's been two weeks, and Greyson was cleared by the doctor. He still had to limit certain things, but he was back in full swing.

"I'll see you soon," Zamaria said into the phone, rolling her eyes as her father continued on not taking the hint to get off the phone.

"Oh when you get here, stop by the bakery and pick up the cake—"

"I know dad. You've said it four times already. I know what to do and where to go. I can't get anything done if you insist on repeating the To-Do list every time, I try to get off the phone."

"I'm sorry baby. I'm just excited. To see if your brother takes after your old man or not."

"With that I'm hanging up. Good bye daddy." She laughed knowing her dad was hoping to have his first grandchild be a girl.

"See you later pumpkin."

After hanging up the phone, she connected it to the Bluetooth device in the bathroom before going to her songs and putting it on shuffle. Plugging it up to the charger, she sat it on the dresser and stripped her clothes. Tossing them in the dirty clothes hamper in the room, she grabbed her towel wrapping it around her body before going across the hall to begin her shower.

After she got the water to her liking, she couldn't keep her mind from going back to that day in the warehouse. Her birthday no less. There was a heaviness that weighed her down emotionally. She wanted to say it back, but she wasn't sure if she felt it as deep as he had. Time had definitely changed her.

When she was 12, she was sure she had loved him in the same way. After the party, and the years alone dealing with dirty men, that love was smothered and buried under hatred and the need to survive. She wasn't sure if it even still remained.

Taking a deep breath she cleared her mind and locked it away for another day. Right now she was preparing to move the rest of her things to her old house, as well as prepare for the gender reveal party her brother never got to have. He had cancelled due to the loss of their mother. Now he was bringing the party to them, and everyone was excited.

His wife was due to have her baby in two months and the air was buzzing with excitement.

Washing her body for the last time, Zamaria shut off the speaker and stepped from the shower wrapping the towel back around her wet body.

"Red, you still here?" she heard Greyson yell from downstairs.

"Just got out the shower!" she yelled back sticking her head out of the bathroom door. Soon his heavy footsteps were heard on the wooden steps. She stood in front of the mirror brushing her hair into a neat pony tail so she could wash her face.

Greyson soon stood behind her as he looked at her reflection in the mirror. Seeing him with that lazy grin on his face always had her heart skipping a beat.
