Chapter Thirty-Three
Zamaria
"Okay, that's the last of it." Many yelled as he and her father repositioned her new sofa.
"Thanks, guys, lunch is almost ready," Zamaria yelled from her kitchen. She had just moved into her new house in New Jersey. It had been almost four months since she left Greyson and each day was harder than the last. Yet she had to suck it up and keep pushing forward.
After the first few months, she began to feel like her old self again, and missing him hadn't been so bad. She soon came to the realization that she did indeed love Greyson with all her heart. It just took a slap in the face—literally—for her to realize such a thing.
Jessica had been by her side every step of the way and was gracious enough to deliver said slap. Zamaria had been freaking out after receiving some shocking news just the day before. With the stress of everything she had been through in the last year, she didn't think much of it when her period was late. It wasn't the first time she had gone two and a half months without a period. With the pile of stress she was under and the birth control she had been taking, her hormones were out of whack.
It wasn't until the doctor delivered the news did, she realizes that she had run out of birth control around the time she had moved in with Greyson. Granted most of the time he pulled out, but then there were intense moments when they got lost in each other and he didn't. Their last encounter being the moment it happened.
She was pregnant and the thought alone forced her feelings to the forefront of her mind. She loved Greyson, and it was time she stopped hiding from the truth. She loved that man with all her heart and soul, just as he loved her.
It was now she had to face a difficult task; figuring out how to tell him. After the first month of ignoring his calls, he had stopped trying altogether. She had been relieved at first but then when she got the news, she had hoped and prayed he would take a chance and call one more time. He never did.
Zamaria couldn't be mad that he hadn't tried again, it was selfish of her to want him to keep trying. But the reality was, it was her who left, and it was she who needed to go back and make amends.
"Come eat!" She yelled as she placed the sandwiches and salad on the kitchen table. Her brother Many, and her father, along with Jess had been helping her move into her new place. Many had driven to her old storage unit to pick up everything and help her move in.
When she left, she had been staying with Jess and her husband Brody. It hurt at first to see how much they loved each other but she knew she was doing it for the best. In the few months she stayed with Jess she was able to re-ground herself and find that small spark that she thought had died. She felt better about the situation and wouldn't change a thing.
The family sat around the table eating and talking amongst one another and she couldn't have felt more content with her life. She just needed to muster up the courage and take the next step in completing her family.
Jess had offered to spend the night so she wouldn't feel so lonely.Zamaria agreed only because she knew her sister was using it as an excuse forherself. Brody had just left for a business trip to California and she would behome alone. Zamaria couldn't really say when the last time they had beenseparated this much. He was expected to be gone for at least three days. Accordingto Jess if everything went smoothly, he'd be there a week tops.
