Unexpected News

Two months later;

''Captain Kirk'' Admiral Marcus said as he appeared on the screen in the main room.

Kaitlynn and Khan were in the medic room together when they both heard Admiral Marcus' voice.

Jim said ''Admiral Marcus, I wasn't excepting you. It's a hell of a ship you got there.''

''And I wasn't expecting to get word that you'd taken Harrison into custody in violation of your orders.'' Admiral Marcus said sternly.

''Well, we uh...we had to improvise when our warp core unexpectedly malfunctioned. But you already knew that, didn't you, sir?'' Jim said.

''I don't take your meaning'' Admiral Marcus said confused.

''Well, that's why you're here, isn't it? To assist with our repairs? Why else would the head of Starfleet personally come to the edge of the Neutral Zone?'' Jim asked.

Then Mr. Sulu said ''Captain, they're scanning our ship.''

''Is there something I can help you find, sir?''

Marcus said sternly ''Where is your prisoner, Kirk?''

Kirk sighed and he said ''Per Starfleet regulation, I'm planning on returning Khan to Earth to stand trial.''

''Well, shit. You talked to him. It's exactly what I was hoping to spare you from. I took a tactical risk and I woke that bastard up, believing that his superior intelligence could help us protect ourself from whatever came at us next. But I made a mistake. And now the blood of everybody he's killed is on my hands. So, I'm asking you, give him to me, so that I can end what I started.''

Kaitlynn looked at Khan as she heard Admiral Marcus, in her eyes, lie about what he did with Khan.

''And what exactly would you like me to do with the rest of his crew, sir?'' Jim asked. ''Fire them at the Klingons, end seventy-two lives? Start a war in the process?''

Kaitlynn, Carol and Bones were listening to Kirk's conversation with Marcus, as are the rest of the crew of the Enterprise, including Khan as Admiral Marcus said ''He put those people in those torpedoes. And I simply didn't want to burden you with knowing what was inside of them. You saw what this man can do all by himself. Can you imagine what would happen if we woke up the rest of his crew. What else did he tell you? That he's a peace keeper? He's playing you, son. Don't you see that? Khan and his crew were condemned to death as war criminals. And now it is our duty to carry out that sentence before anybody else dies because of him.''

Kaitlynn rolled her eyes. She knew the truth, Marcus was a low life liar she didn't care what anyone said. Then Admiral Marcus said ''I'm gonna ask you again! One last time, son. Lowers your shields, tell me where he is.''

Jim said ''He's in Engineering, sir. But I'll have him moved to the transporter room right away.''

''I'll take it from here.'' Marcus said and then he signed off.

Jim quickly said to Mr. Sulu ''Do not drop those shields, Mr. Sulu.''

Mr. Sulu agreed saying ''Aye, Captain.''

Jim rose from his chair as Spock said ''Captain, given your awareness of Khan's true location in the medbay, may I know the details of your plan?''

Jim said to Spock simply ''I told Marcus we were bringing a fugitive back to Earth. That's what we're gonna do''

Kaitlynn clutched her fists together as they entered warp. Khan said something to Carol which made her run off. Bones left to do other work and once the coast  was clear, Kaitlynn approached Khan and she said ''You have a plan''

''Not I'' Khan said. ''Your brother''

''He's going to align himself with you so that he can get onto Admiral Marcus' ship isn't he?'' Kaitlynn asked.

Khan smirked and he said ''Yes''

Kaitlynn folded her arms as she said ''I don't trust anyone''

''Anyone?'' Khan asked.

''Well anyone except you'' Kaitlynn admitted. Khan smiled, then he said ''What was it you wanted to tell me?''

Kaitlynn smiled and as soon as she opened her mouth to tell Khan, Jim came in. Both Khan and Kaitlynn looked at Jim and Jim looked at both of them. ''Kaitlynn go to the control room''

Kaitlynn looked at Jim then at Khan, then she left.

Khan was getting ready to leave with Jim when Kaitlynn walked in. ''I was right wasn't I?'' she asked.

Khan looked at her and he said ''I'm afraid so, darling''

Kaitlynn sighed and then Khan said ''Kaitlynn what is it? You look like something happened today''

Kaitlynn smiled and she said ''Well remember our experiment?''

Khan raised an eyebrow and he said ''Yes what about it?''

Kaitlynn smiled and she looked down. Then she took Khan's hand and placed it on her lower stomach. Khan felt her bump. Khan's eyes widened and Kaitlynn smiled at him. ''Come back safely. For me and for your child''

Khan smiled and then he cupped hee face with his hands and he kissed her on the lips. He pulled away then she left for the main control room once more.
