Chapter -44

Anu's POV

If I was living in a dream I never wanted to get out of it. We were dancing tonight, holding each others hands, with the slow song, under the lights that made his glowing face look even more glowing. I didn't notice what steps we were doing or how we looked while dancing, all I remembered was just him and me, smiling at each other. We danced together but just for a short time when Ram had to jump in and insist to leave.

"I-I will come tomorrow to... You know.. to pickup. If you are okay with it" Anand said nervously.

"Ok-okay" I nodded with a shy smile.

He sighed "okay then. See you tomorrow." He said rubbing his neck.

"Okay. Bye" I said trying to free my hand that he was still holding. Only When he realized that he had to let me go, he release my hand from his grip.

"Ur mom is going to slice me into pieces" Ram said bringing his eyebrows together while we were walking out.

I laughed.

It was dark and cold outside, the stars looked brighter tonight, even though the cold air made me shiver, my heart was still warm and was still beating faster.

"Whatever your plan was.... It worked" I said looking straight and smiling.

"Huh? Oh yeah. It worked right?" He asked with a hint of proud.

"Yes..." I said lazily. Still couldn't believe what had happened tonight.

"But honestly Anu.. I thought it was going to backfire" he laughed.

"Even I thought the same" I half laughed and continued. "You made him mad. Again"

He chuckled "you know it was the most important part of the plan."

I raised my eyebrows and said "ooh"

"You know... It's really fun to irritate him. Try it. At your own risk" he laughed.

I couldn't help but laugh when I remembered his face when he was mad at Ram or me "I can't say No."

"But I have to tell you something" he said turning to me.

"What?" I demanded.

"You both are idiots!" He grinned.

I rolled my eyes.

By the time we reached my house, mom was already standing on the door steps waiting for us.

"God! All the evening I had to deal with your husband and now with your mom!" He sighed. "Never make a girl your best friend" he shook his head.

I slapped his arm "say that again?" I challenged him.

"Okay.... Sorry. But please save me from your mom's lecture atleast."

Anand's POV

"Okay.. okay.. control.. your feelings..." I told myself and quickly took a look around me just to check if someone was listening.

Then I began to debate with myself "see... You told her that you are going to pickup her tomorrow. So... I can wait for few hours... You know to see her again."

The other part of me  told "absolutely not! I want to see her right now" hm... Now this part of me was the stupid I guessed.

"Dude, The party wasn't over!" Raj said over the phone

"Who cares about the party?" I said getting into the car.

"Really Anand?" He shouted.

"Hmmm"

"After so long we got to spend some time with you... and you just disappeared. Once again" he sounded hurt.

"You know... sometimes. Sometimes I wish I could curse you" he continued.

"Oh, trust me Raj, I have had enough problems without your stupid curse"

He didn't speak.

"Hey buddy, trust me, I will catch up with you once I get Anu back!"

"And... And promise me you will never ignore me or push me away again"

"Never!" My lips trembled.

It was odd that I got emotional with a small thing like that or maybe it wasn't small thing. On that night, I realized that I have hurt not just Anu but also other people who were close to me, my friends and my parents. I wish I could make everything back to normal. I wish I could make all my people happy.

I reached home safely at midnight but guess what it wasn't mine. It was Anu's house. Even though I tried my best to stop myself from doing this, I couldn't control myself from seeing her once again.

Hoping that her parents will not panic, I dared to knock on the their door. There wasn't any answer. Maybe they were asleep. After few attempts just when I decided to give up and go back to the party, the door click opened. It was her father. He looked so tired and sleepy that I immediately felt guilty for disturbing him on that time.

"Anand?" Whatever sleepiness he had disappeared in seconds.

Just as I thought he panicked.

"Uncle, sorry to disturb you at this time" I quickly said.

"Is everything ok?" He said moving aside to let me in.

"Yes. Everything is ok. I just.. I just came to see you.." I said with hesitation.

"See me?" He asked.

"Um. No not you exactly. To see Anu"

"Is everything ok?" Came another question from My mother-in-law who just came out of her room.

"Everything is okay!" I already regreted going there.

"Look Anand please tell us the truth" she said holding my hand in her hands. "I knew there was something wrong between you two. Did you two had a fight?"

"Nope." I said quickly with raised eyebrows.

"Then why..." Before she come up with some other question I said

"I came because I miss her."

"You what?" Both of them asked together even though they heard it on the first time.

"I missed her. So I just came to see her. That's all... " As soon as those words left my lips my in-laws started smiling and giggling like I just said something funny.

"Can I?" I said pointing towards her room just to divert the topic but I came to know it was a bad step when their giggles turned into laughter.

Please someone save me from this awkward moment!

"Anand?"

"Huh? Anu?" I turned around to look at her.
