We had just lied down to sleep when I heard a howl. "Oh my God!" Vern shot up from his sleeping bag. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "What the hell was that?" I asked. At this point we were all up. There. It did it again. "It's that Brower kid! His ghosts out walking in the woods!" Teddy yelled, trying to scare Vern. "Oh I promise I'll hawk no more dirty books! I promise I won't say no more bad swears! I promise I'll eat all my lima beans!" Vern started to cry. Teddy went behind him and tapped him twice. "Two for flinching!" He said and then hit him. I rubbed Verns back and gave him a hug.
"What is it Chris?" I asked. I wasn't that scared. There had to be a logical explanation.
"Maybe it's coyotes?" He said. "It sounds like a woman screaming," Gordie said. "It didn't sound anything close to that!" I said as I rolled my eyes. "It's not coyotes or a woman! It's his ghost!" Teddy said. At this point, Chris had his gun in the air.
Teddy has gotten up and started to walk to the noise. "Teddy! Sit down," I said, pulling his arm back. "I'm gonna look for it! I wanna see the ghost!" He whispered to me. "Don't say that!" Vern whined. "God guys! It's not a ghost!" I said to them. "I just wanna see it! I wanna see what it looks like!" Teddy said, completely ignoring me. He stood up to walk but before he could, a loud howl shot him, and all of us backward. It was quiet for a minute.
"M-maybe we should stand guard?" Vern suggested. "Yeah, that's a good idea," Chris said quietly.
"Gimme the gun, I'll take first watch," Teddy said. Chris, very reluctantly, gave him the gun. I really don't know how any of us felt about Teddy having that gun. For all we could've known, he could shoot us all and leave.
