After that incident I couldn't stop thinking about how we could've ended up like Ray. The image was stuck in my head. Each one of us dead. I hated myself for thinking it.

It was beginning to get dark. We had set up camp in a little part of the woods. Teddy made the fire and we all sat our stuff down. I guess the trip was going well if you don't count- well nevermind. We started cooking our dinner.
"Man! That was the all time train dodge! Too cool!" Teddy said. We almost fucking died. "Vern you was so scared! You looked like that fat guy in Abbot and Costello the time he saw the mummy!" Teddy cackled. I didn't want to laugh but it was to damn funny. I let a laugh slip out. "I wasn't that scared!" Vern said. "Vernnnn?" We all knew he was. But can you really blame him.
"No, really, I wasn't! Sincerely!" He pleaded. "Okay, so you won't mind if we check the seats of your jockeys for hershey-squirts, will ya?" Gordie joked. "Go screw," Vern said annoyed. We were all having a grand time.
I pulled out my sketchbook and went to sit against the tree.
"Vern, you better turn yours over!" Chris warned, referring to the piece of meat on the stick. "This is the way I like to do it!"
I began to sketch a drawing of Ray, hoping that it would get the thought out of my head.
As soon as Vern said that though, the meat fell into the fire. "Aw man! You got anymore Gordie?" Vern asked. The boys were laughing. "Sorry Vern!" Gordie said, laughing. "It's not funny! What am I supposed to eat?" Vern asked. "Why don't you cook your dick?" Teddy cackled. "Would be a small meal!" Chris added. "You can have mine," I chimed in.
I really didn't have an appetite anymore. I just couldn't get the image out of my head.
"Y/N, you aren't hungry?" Chris asked. "No, not really," I replied. "Hahaha! Screw you guys! Thanks Y/N!" Vern said.
"Whatcha drawing?" Chris asked, coming to sit by me. I quickly closed the book. "Oh cmon Y/N," He pleaded. "Later..." I said.
