Chapter one-Lies
Olivia sat at her desk and drummed the pencil that was in her hand against the edge of the table. Her eyes scanned over the words that she had just highlighted and she repeated them (the words) in her head before flipping to the next page.
A sudden yawn left her lips and Olivia placed her pencil on the desk before she started to rub her eyes, desperately trying to remove the tiredness from them. She had been sitting at her desk for the past three hours and had been trying to finish reading the 13-page long essay on behavior.
She had thought that she'd be able to finish it in an hour or so, but that (obviously) was not the case and now, Olivia was starting to realize how bad her idea had been.
Her eyes drifted to the small calendar that she kept on a corner of her desk and a sigh escaped her lips when she saw what date it was. 23 August 2007. Her younger sister's birthday, but that wasn't what had caused Olivia to sigh, no, what had caused her to sigh was the fact that it was supposed to be a full moon tonight.
Olivia had a very weird and unique kind of condition when it came to full moons. She didn't know why, but every full moon night she became angrier and snappy and it was as if she was a teenager all over again.
She didn't understand it and it bothered her, to say the least.
Her hand went to the crescent moon-shaped pendant that was around her neck and a relaxed sigh left her lips. The pendant was a gift from her mother, and it (somehow) always calmed her down. It was almost as if the pendant was some sort of lock that was supposed to keep Olivia's anger at bay.
A sudden squeak from the living room and the dropping of something on the floor pulled Olivia out of her thoughts and she hurriedly rushed out of her room and towards the living room.
What was that noise?
Olivia got the answer to her question when she saw her mom and her sister standing in the middle of the living room, hugging each other. ''What happened?'' the mother-daughter duo pulled away from their hug and beamed at the only brunette present in the room. ''I got in.'' Clary squealed happily and bounced up and down on her feet.
''That's that's-wow.'' Olivia chuckled and pulled her sister in for a hug, ''Congrats, Clary.'' She knew how hard Clary had worked to get into the Brooklyn Academy of Art, and she (Olivia) was happy and proud of her (Clary).
''Thanks, Liv.'' Clary smiled at her older sister and then turned to look at her mother with a knowing look in her eyes, '' You follow Simon, don't you? That's how you got to know about me getting into the art academy.''
''He only has 92 followers, he needs the retweets.'' Jocelyn defended herself with a small smile present on her lips. Olivia nodded in agreement and sat down on the couch, her eyes unintentionally darting to the window and her breathing quickening when she noticed the moon, (hidden well by the daylight, but still visible to her) gleaming almost in a threatening manner.
