                                                               Chapter Twenty Two- Golden Bonds

''We have an imposter among us,'' Ian spoke as they walked into the Institute. ''Yeah, and whoever they are, they won't be able to stay hidden for long,'' Jace added and clenched his jaw in fury. He hated traitors. He hated them with a passion.

''But the imposter could be anyone.'' Olivia pointed out. ''How will we find them?''

''I have no idea. All I know is that when the traitor comes in front of me, I swear I'll-''

''You're back.'' Izzy walked towards them with a grin plastered across her face. '' Jace, Ian, you two are coming to Alec's bachelor party, right?''

Jace scoffed.  ''No,'' he replied. The boy was still angry at Alec and didn't want to see or talk to him.  ''He doesn't want me there, and I'm swamped.''

Ian sighed. This was bad. Alec and Jace had foughten before, yes, but none of their fights had ever lasted this long.

It worried him.

What if they never talked to each other again?  What if- Stop. He closed his eyes and shook his head. He couldn't think like that, not now, not ever. ''Jace,'' he re-opened his eyes and fixed them on his adopted brother. ''You have to talk to him. He's your parabatai for angel's sake.''

Olivia bit her lip and looked at Jace. His jaw was set in anger and his eyes were furious, but she could still see the pain that he was hiding from everyone else. ''Ian's right, Jace. Ignoring Alec won't solve your problems,'' she said and then remembered that Jace had listened to her advice the last time he and Alec had fought. ''Please,'' she pleaded, hoping that he would take her advice this time as well. ''Talk to him.''

Jace inhaled sharply. The pleading in Olivia's voice was breaking through his anger. ''I-'' he began but paused as his eyes landed on Lydia, who was standing mere feet away from them and was so busy in talking to a fellow shadowhunter that she didn't notice Jace's hard stare on her. ''There are more important things going on than a bachelor party,''  he stated and turned around before walking towards an empty training room. ''Come with me,'' he spoke over his shoulder.

The rest shared a confused look and then followed after the blond male.

As soon as they stepped inside the training room, Jace turned to Izzy and spoke, ''We have a mole in the Institute.''

Izzy's eyebrows arched up in shock. ''What?''

''We were attacked by a Shax demon when we went to see Ragnor Fell.'' Clary added.

''The attack couldn't have been a coincidence. Valentine must have been tracking us.''  Olivia said and watched as realization dawned on the younger brunette's face. ''You don't think someone from the Institute told Valentine where you were going.''
