Holding On

Mariana felt Evan's warm breath on her bare chest. She was in pure bliss, she had sex with Evan and it was the perfect distraction to get her mind off of Raj. She looked around and reality slowly started to set in as she saw the "Team Green" sign in the corner of the room and all the glass windows and doors.
What was she doing? She needed to talk to Raj and couldn't help but feel a little guilty for sleeping with another man while still being in a relationship, even though he did cheat on her too, according to the confession Davia read to her.
She started to slowly get up.
"What are you doing?" Evan said shocked as she started quickly changing back into her clothes.
"I just need to get back to the coterie. I'm not thinking clearly"
"Did I do something wrong?" Evan looked at her with worried eyes as he also started to change.
"No.. you didn't. I did, Evan, you're my boss and I am technically still in a relationship" Mariana said shaking her head.
"Wait" Evan said but Mariana ran out as fast as she could. She didn't want any of the girls or guys at Speckulate finding out about her and Evan.
They already thought she was getting unfair treatment and she couldn't have them thinking there was something more going on.
She called a Coche and on her way home she couldn't help but melt remembering how perfect his touch and kiss was.
He was so gentle and loving with her, why couldn't she feel this way with Raj.
She arrived back at the coterie and was greeted by Alice and Kelly who were sitting in the kitchen eating ice cream.
"Ohhh, where have you been this late?" Kelly said raising her eyebrows up and down.
"Ugh making a huge mistake.. what's that saying, two wrongs don't make a right? Yeah that's my life" she said plopping down on a chair.
"Here try some of this" Alice scooted the ice cream bin towards Mariana and she happily grabbed a spoon and ate a scoop.
"Why are you guys sitting here eating ice cream?" She said curious as she continued eating.
"Celebrating and also bored" Alice said
"Well, I'm happy for you and this new love interest of yours but this didn't help" she said pushing the ice cream away from her. She got up and walked towards her loft.
She immediately rolled her eyes as she saw Isabella sleeping in her bed. She had forgotten for a minute that she was still here.
"How can I get rid of you" Mariana mumbled as she changed into her pajamas and went into the loft to check on Callie and to tell her about her big mistake.
She saw she was asleep on the couch and decided to just leave it until the morning.
The next morning Mariana woke up to her alarm and did her usual morning routine to get ready for work.
She was nervous to go back to Speckulate. Would Evan treat her any different?
Did everyone already know? She was worried for her job and her sanity.
She decided to put on a pair of bell bottom jeans and a cream colored sweater pairing it with her favorite pair of wedges. She pulled her hair into a ponytail and kept her glasses on.
At least Max and Alex were gone so she didn't have to deal with their comments anymore.
She walked into the kitchen to quickly grab a muffin before she headed out,
"Where's Callie?" She said to Davia who was sitting in her robe at the dining table with Dennis.
"I think she's in Gael's loft actually" she said surprised.
"Really?!" Mariana said
"Yeah, I think I heard them outside late last night too. Something is definitely going on and we all know there's trouble in paradise with her and Jamie so.." Davia said
"And speaking of paradise I may have went there last night" Davia said with a smirk.
"What! Really with who?"
She didn't say anything instead she just looked over at Dennis and giggled.
"No way!" Mariana said as her jaw dropped.
"Yeah but don't tell anyone, especially Alice. I don't think I'm ready to hear her say, 'I told you so' every second" Davia said rolling her eyes.
"Ok, well I'm so happy for you guys but I'm going to be late for work" she headed out and soon arrived at Speckulate.
She walked in feeling naked and completely vulnerable.
To her surprise nobody gave her a second glance and it felt like normal day.
She saw Evan walking down the hall and she turned quickly and headed in a different direction.
"Oh, hey Mariana, what's up?" Casey said bumping into her.
"Oh, uh nothing, I was just going to the... bathroom" Mariana said pointing to the bathroom next to them and quickly headed inside. It was definitely going to be a long day.
She avoided Raj and Evan as best as she could and the day went on pretty normal despite her not having new teammates yet.
"Hey Raj!" Mariana said as she saw him leaving at the end of the day.
"We need to talk" she said looking down.
"About what? Is it about us?" He said looking defeated. He knew a breakup was coming soon. He didn't feel the same love he once did for her, not after he admitted his feelings for Isabella.
"Yeah, Raj, we can't be together anymore. Not like this, we're so broken and this will never work" she said watching his expressions.
"You're right. I think we've been holding on for too long" he said.
"I just don't trust you and I'm glad you found someone else" she said her voice shaky.
"You don't trust me? I'm the one constantly worried every time Evan looks at you" Raj said offended. He couldn't understand why she wouldn't trust him when he's been open with her from the start.
"You know what, I don't wanna argue. Goodbye Raj" she said walking away and heading down the sidewalk, she let a tear fall.
"Wait" Raj called out but she ignored him.
