Ethan hadn't seen Natasha since yesterday.

He had to leave early in the morning for an emergency at the office and hadn't wanted to wake her up. He instead left her a small message that she didn't reply to yet.

He had come back to the Lodge at ten, expecting her to be at the lobby since it had been a Saturday and she supposedly had a shift till midnight-but she wasn't. The idea of knocking at her door had crossed his head but he hadn't wanted to overstep his boundaries more than he already had.

Today, however, he was going for it.

He didn't usually work on Sundays, but he had to make up for the day off he took, and it was safe to say he was cursing his entire company once he stepped inside the Lodge, on the brick of collapsing from exhaustion despite it barely being six-thirty still.

"Hi, Robin." He smiled his way, but the latter was too distracted to reciprocate once he got off the phone. Ethan frowned. "Everything okay?"

"Oh, sorry." Robin quickly wiped the irritation from his face, lips curling in a small smile. "Yes, everything is fine." He shook his head, raking a hand through his hair.

"Anything I can do to help?" He probed, noticing Robin seemed to be in conflict with himself. The latter heaved a sigh.

"My daughter is drunk. She needs me to pick her up." He had already taken off his uniform and Ethan figured his shift had ended, Max coming into view to take over.

"If you're busy, I can get her."

Robin smiled. "Oh no, it's not that. It's just I promised Natasha I'd attend her performance. I told her I'll be late but I can be there for the last piece..." He flicked his watch, his shoulders hunched at the realization he wouldn't be able to make it.
