"How did you know that would work?" "Experience. I got attacked by those things once before myself and almost died. I spent three days in that pod like you just did. Once I opened up my wings it restored my balance and felt good as well. When I first came here it took me a few days to get my balance after having been in stasis for so long. Now then, why don't we grab a bite to eat and talk a bit?"
He looked at Wolf who was sitting by my side and looking at him. It was clear to me that Mitch was unsure of Wolf. "How did you train him?" "I didn't. He is not a pet. He is my friend. He is free to come and go as he chooses. His pack has adopted me and I will introduce you later to them if you like and you meet with my friend's approval."
Wolf walked around him and sniffed him then finally stood up and planted his first four feet into Mitch and stared at him in the eyes. Mitch was smart enough to close his eyes and turn his head in a show of humility. That was good enough for Wolf. Wolf dropped back down to all six legs then walked over and nudged me towards Mitch. I laughed a moment then ruffled his fur while Mitch stared in disbelief.
"Maybe later my friend, but for now, food. Join me, Mitch. We have a lotto discuss and you have choices to make." I walked outside and stretched my wings for moment and could feel the wind picking up from the approaching storm. Mitch could feel it too and that was a good sign that his instincts were working perfectly.
I flew up to just above the trees and spotted the storm just barely at the far end of the canyons and slowly moving this way. It was going to be a bad storm as dark and slow moving as it was. I landed a moment later next to Mitch. "Let me call the colony real quick and warn them about the storm then we can go into my place and eat then talk."
"Alena calling colony. Alena calling colony." "This is colony. What's up ma'am?" "Two things. First is a super storm coming at us and it looks and feels bad. You might want to get everyone inside and everything loose buckled down. I see wind speeds of almost 200 and the storm is huge. Would be best to ride it out inside for the duration of the storm." "Copy that ma'am. Thanks for the heads up. I'll let them know right away. And what is number two?"
"My guest just woke up and unfortunately got dressed." I heard laughter over the radio. "Laugh it up, Jeremy. You just wait until something similar happens to you. I'll talk to him and bring him up to date on everything tonight. Let Jake and Sarah know, that is if you can pry them apart from each other long enough to get their attention." Jeremy laughed a minute and then Jake spoke up over the radio.
"I heard that! We're not that bad! And even if we were, we're still newlyweds so we have that right. Mitch, if you can here me, then you need to know that you are not banished and we all miss you. Alena can explain it all to you. I have to go now and get everything buckled down for this storm and make sure everything is secure. I also have to keep Melina on the ground so she doesn't crash and hurt herself. Thanks for the heads up and talk to you tomorrow guys. Colony out."
"Join me outside and we can talk while we eat. I've been busy all day and I'm starving." He walked outside of the ship with me and looked at it a minute before finally recognizing it. "I have seen this ship before. When we first came into this system we spotted you with just barely enough time to alter course to avoid hitting you."
