We all sat and she explained how she came to meet Mitch. "It is good to hear that a great misunderstanding has been corrected. The two of you will make many fine strong and healthy children." Mitch blushed and I merely smiled as I laid my head on his shoulder. Ulna caught it instantly and smiled as well.
"You have chosen well. You are both smart, healthy and strong. When is your first child due Alena?" I think Mitch about had heart failure at that question. "In about nine months. My cycle is a week overdue and the medical scanner on my ship says I am indeed pregnant." "That is good news indeed and cause for celebration. The first birth on a new world."
"When were you going to tell me?" "Tonight. I only confirmed it this morning with a medical scan. My cycle is regular and always on time so when it was late I had to know for sure if I was ill or if I was pregnant. Now you know. But don't think this will relieve you of your obligation to make me scream in pleasure tonight." He blushed then pulled me to him and kissed me. When he broke the kiss he smiled at me.
"Marry me." What?!" He smiled even more as he held me. "Marry me." I grabbed him this time and kissed him. When we came up for breath I gave him my answer. "Yes." We told everyone the news and then set a date for two weeks so everyone from the cat people's tribe could attend as well. Mitch was held in high esteem for saving Ulna at risk to his own life.
The entire clan of them seemed to think that Mitch is to be honored for saving the life of Ulna. They know of me from having saved my own hind end once from the banta. As far as they seem to be concerned Mitch and I belong together and now that I am pregnant they see it as a good reason to celebrate. It will be interesting in two weeks when the majority of them show up for the wedding of myself to Mitch.
Jake came over and hugged me then congratulated Mitch when he heard the good news about me being pregnant and saying yes to Mitch. I was happy and content for the first time in a long time. Everyone congratulated us over the next few hours. The trades with the cat folk went off wonderfully and they seemed to love the idea of the trading every few weeks with the colony.
Mitch and I still kept making love and teaching Melina how to fly and to do more and more complicated maneuvers while flying. She got to be almost perfect at flying and when not helping out could often be found flying and practicing something she had been shown by me.
The wedding came up two weeks later. I was nervous and so was Mitch as we said our vows in front of the entire colony and almost 300 cat people as well. We kissed and then took to the air to throw the bouquet in a random direction. I laughed when it landed square in Melina's arms. Melina had a smile on her face as she flew up to greet us as only another avian can.
When I saw the flowers in her hands I laughed. "You tossed them and I swear I did not fly up to catch them. They landed square in my arms. Guess now we know there wont be another marriage for a few years at least unless you can clone Mitch and make him my age." "I don't think so honey. Maybe you'll find someone special in a few years."
"I'm not waiting. I'm going to go straight out and marry a banta." We laughed at that one as we could almost picture her trying to do something that crazy. The wedding night was long and tiring with the huge feast and then finally the two of us flying off to my place to make love in private. Our lovemaking left me weak and worn out by the time we were finished and Mitch was just as tired but happy. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
