Sarah came down the North side near the cave and ignored me as she ran over to see to her husband. She was surprised to see Melina but her attention was focused mainly on Jake as I fanned my wings back and forth enough to speed dry them in preparation for flight if need be. I sighed as I walked slowly over to the three of them. Jake was in obvious pain and Sarah failed to notice me until I was almost up to her.

She gasped when she saw me and stood between Melina and Jake when she saw the blaster. "Please don't shoot them! They mean you no harm! I shook my head and holstered my blaster then began to carefully probe his leg with my hands. "It feels like it is broken in at least three places but I wont know until I scan it. Melina, fetch our gear please and then I can scan his leg and give him a shot for the pain."

Melina obeyed without question and within a minute had all of our clothes and possessions rounded up. I did not bother with my clothes but instead reached for my portable scanner and first aid kit. A quick scan revealed he had indeed broken it in three places. "It is broken in three places. I'll give you a shot for the pain then we can set it and splint it for you." Sarah and Jake were speechless at seeing me not only nude but seeing the giant wings I have as well.

I gave Jake a shot and few minutes later I got dressed along with Melina. Once I was dressed Jake was starting to fall asleep from the heavy pain medication in the shot. "I'm Alena Mathews. I think you folks have seen me a few times already but we have never been introduced before." Sarah extended a hand. "I'm Sarah Mitchel and this is my husband, Jake. We were trying to finish exploring the canyons from above when he slipped and then got washed over the waterfall."

"I have been trying to help Melina get better at flying by teaching her everything she needs to know. I am sorry if this upsets you." "Not at all. I like the idea of her learning how to fly from someone else who has wings as well. Can you help me get him to our colony? I think I can get the medical pod to work long enough to fix the leg."

"He should not be moved until the leg is splinted. If you can wait a little then I can get the things we need and splint the leg before we move him." I flew off to the nearest tree about ten minutes away and broke off a couple of smaller branches then quickly returned with them. With help from Sarah and Melina, I had the leg set straight and splinted in a few minutes time.

The three of us talked as we carried Jake carefully out of the canyons. He was asleep through the entire trip to the edge of the canyon. Sarah gasped in surprise when she saw the huge birds flying the crazy stunt I had just flown earlier. Some of them had already gotten most of it figured out, but the steep dive with the wings folded was a bit tough for them. Melina and I both laughed at this and then I had to explain it to Sarah.

As we hiked and carried Jake through the forest carefully she went on to explain to me all that had happened to Mitch and the punishment they gave Susan for her actions. I thought it was too lenient and so did Sarah. "I was ready to shoot her for what she did to him. I'm still tempted to shoot her for it if I ever see her again. Jake refused to let us shoot her and instead opted for banishing her for30 days.

She vanished after about a week into these canyons somewhere and we have not seen or heard from her since then. Personally, I hope she got some sense knocked into her and went looking for Mitch to bring him back to us and let him know we miss him. If I had not been in love with Jake when I met him then I might have married Mitch instead. He is really a nice guy and deserves better than this. Maybe if we find him you can date him and marry him." We all laughed at that one and I jokingly told her I was going to marry a mermaid instead.
