Gram didn't know who I was today. She didn't want to use her walker, and she tried to take a piss in the kitchen floor because she said it was the bathroom. It was a bad day here. Emilia was handling it like a pro and I wanted to cry in a corner somewhere.
"Why don't you go have a girls day?" Emilia offered as she made another lap to the kitchen to get Gram something to drink.
"I don't just leave you all alone with her. That's not fair." I said. "I don't mind."
"Anna Marie this is my job and although I love Sue, she's a bit much to handle at times. Go get some time to yourself, trust me I'll be fine." She smiled. "You only get to be young once you know."
I smiled. "Thank you Emilia."
"Anytime," she gave me a side hug.
I called Macy and she answered on the second ring. "I'm so sorry for blaming you for telling Mitch. It was totally a mess and you were just looking out for me."
"Hello to you too." I laughed.
"Seriously Anna Marie!" She said. "I'm sorry."
"I forgive you Macy. I know you didn't mean it, and I shouldn't have said anything to Harry. I was just so worried about you." I sighed.
"You don't have to apologize. You were just being a good friend." She sighed. "How's Gramma Sue?"
"Today's a bad day. I was calling to see if maybe you wanted to hang out, maybe have a girls day?" I bit my lip looking over at Emilia trying to reason with Gram in the living room.
"Seriously?" Macy sounded surprised.
"Yeah Emilia insists." I laughed.
"I'll pick you up in twenty."
When she arrived she was wearing a leather skirt and a red halter top with wedges. California really changes a girls style I guess. I was just wearing a plain white T-shirt tied in a knot to my side and cut off jean shorts.
"Manicure first?" Macy asked as I slide into her passenger seat.
"Sounds perfect."
"Oh, and I know this great massage place!" She clapped her hands making her bracelets jingle together.
I smiled and put on my seatbelt. "Fabulous."
As we got our manicures we chatted about Gram. I voiced my worries and Macy assured me everything would be okay. She was always the reassuring one. We talked about my parents being total assholes. She said she'd like to drive them out to the middle of nowhere and just drop them off. I can't say I disagree.
"So are you going to tell me about Harry? Or do I have to beg?" She wiggled her eyebrows.
When she mentioned begging I felt my face heat up. Harry was such a shit. God I'm a hormonal mess.
"What about him?" I asked.
"Did you reconcile your differences?"
I nodded then frowned. "Well, we didn't really talk much about that."
"He came to the hospital with you right?" She asked.
"Yeah," I sighed. "I was so worried about Gram though I wasn't really thinking about anything else."
"And at his villa?" She raised an eyebrow.
"We didn't talk much at all." I blushed.
"You little whore." She squealed in delight. "Tell me everything!"
I shook my head. "Macy we're in public."
"Oh, so it's juicy stuff?" She teased. "Was he as good as you remember?"
