Macy's POV
Waking up I rolled onto my left side seeing the numbers on the clock. It was noon. Mitch was supposed to call me at ten so I probably missed him, again. He's going to think I'm avoiding him.
I wasn't, but I couldn't help it. I'm exhausted! Working all night and training all day. Plus I'm still doing some out patient mental health classes. I just have a really full plate right now.
I sat up rubbing my eyes. Beside me my phone started to ring. Mitch's name was lit up and the cute picture of chosen as his contact photo flashed on the screen.
"Hello?" I answered.
"I waited to call because I figured you had a late night." He said softly. "How are you?"
"Better now that I've heard your voice." I said. "How about you?"
"I miss you." He said.
"I miss you too. I'm sorry I've just been so wrapped up in things out here."
"I get it." He said letting me off the hook. "I was thinking,"
"Yeah?" I prompted.
"Maybe you could come meet my family for Christmas." He said. "I know we only ever went out a few times before shit hit the fan, but I'd really like you to meet them."
"What does that make us Mitch? I still have so much baggage t-"
He cut me off. "Baggage I'm willing to help carry. Macy I want you to be my girlfriend and I want you to meet my parents. Please?"
"How could I say no to that?" I giggled. "I'd love to."
"Be my girlfriend?" He asked.
"Yes, and meet your parents." I said.
"I already bought you a plane ticket." He said.
"What?"
"I knew you'd say yes." He chuckled. "I'll send you the information. Anna Marie called me earlier though and wanted me to tell you that she needs you to meet her at that coffee shop you took her to when she first came to California?"
"Why couldn't she tell me?" I asked.
"She asked me too." He sounded as confused as I felt. "No clue."
I sighed hoping that I wasn't getting fired by my best friend. "Well I better go get ready for the day. Talk to you later, boyfriend."
He laughed. "Talk to you soon, beautiful."
As I showered and got ready I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Everything was looking up. I had a job, hopefully, and a boyfriend. My bestfriend didn't hate me for almost killing her. It was a good life.
At the coffee shop I parked in the spot next to Anna Marie's vehicle. She was probably already inside. I took a deep breath in and exhaled all my possible worries. This was probably just a cute lunch with my best friend to celebrate my current upward swing in life.
I got out of the car and walked to the door. There were people everywhere, but I spotted Anna Marie sitting by the window with her back to me. She had two banana nut muffins in front of her and two cups.
"Hey hey," I bounced into yeh chair across from her. "Why all the weird theatrics?"
She didn't say anything just smiled like a movie star. Then she slid me the plate with my muffin on it. I wiped my sweaty palms on my pants and reached for the pastry.
"What's thi-" I stopped mid sentence when I saw a small infinity ring in the top of my muffin.
I pulled it out confused and saw there was an inscription that said, "sisters by choice", in fancy script writing. The ring was a gorgeous white gold and was my size. Looking back up at Anna Marie she was bursting with excitement.
"What is all this?" I asked holding back tears.
"Read the note." She pointed back at the plate.
Sure enough on the plate there was a napkin with writing on it. The writing was done in gold pen. It was her handwriting and looked so elegant on the plate.
Macy,
I never had a sister, but if I did I know she'd be like you. Fierce and protective. Beautiful and strong. You're my best friend and honorary sister, so that made this decision pretty easy for me. When Harry gave me a ring I wanted you to have one too. Be my maid of honor?I looked up from the note at her. She squealed and held out her left hand showing off an expensive looking rock. One that looked oddly familiar.
"Well?" She prompted.
"You're getting married?"
She nodded biting her lip. "And I want you to be my maid of honor! Help me plan my wedding like we always talked about as kids?"
I blinked back tears looking at how happy my best friend looked. "How could I possibly say no! Of course I'll be your maid of honor."
We both squealed making people stare. Then she reached over taking the ring she'd given me. Anna Marie made a show of getting down on one knee and sliding it onto my right hand. We laughed as a few people in the cafe clapped for us.
Standing up she slid back into her chair. We ate our muffins and talked about ideas for the wedding. I couldn't believe this. I'm so excited for her.
This is a time we've talked about since we were little. Planning our weddings and stuff together. It was like a dream. My best friend finally found the perfect guy.
"How are things with you and Mitch?" Anna Marie asked.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend." I gushed about him a little. "I'm going to take some time off for the holidays and meet his family."
Anna Marie squealed with me about this. She was over the moon for me. She told me all about how on tour Mitch asked about me every day. He told Anna Marie that he didn't want to be too clingy but that he missed me.
It melted my heart. I'd missed Mitch a lot while they were gone. He was the first guy I'd really been close with other than just sex. It was the kind of relationship I needed and desperately wanted.
"So have you and Harry set a date?" I asked.
Anna Marie smiled brightly. "March sixth."
Her grammas birthday was March sixth. "That's a beautiful day for a wedding." I smiled with her.
