Mitch's POV

Walking into Macy's apartment I was sweating bullets. I knew Harry was fucking right. I had to tell her about Ashley, but it was just so hard to talk about. Hell, it was hard to even think about honestly.

"Honey I'm home!" I called into the apartment mocking one of her favorite shows.

She didn't say anything but I heard her moving around in the kitchen. I sat my keys on the little table she had by her door. Then I tied off my shoes and headed toward where I'd heard her rustling around.

I rounded the corner and stopped dead in my tracks. Macy was sitting on the ground with her head between her knees as her shoulders shook from the crying. There was glass all over the floor and it crunched beneath my shoes as I got closer to her.

She looked up with tears streaking her face. "Please just leave."

I shook my head. "What's going on? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." She hiccuped between sobs.

"Clearly not." I crouched down in front of her subtly looking for cuts from all the glass.

"My tires got slashed." She sobbed. "I thought maybe it was just a freak thing. You know it happens to everyone."

I nodded. "Okay?"

"Th-then I got home and there was a no-note stuck to the door with a knife." She sobbed. "Reggie must've gotten in somehow. The place was trashed."

"What did the note say?" I was furious.

"It's on the table." She looked into my eyes. "But I'd prefer you didn't read it. It's really nasty."

"That bastard has one coming." I ground my teeth.

"Mitch he's not worth it."

I shook my head as I tentatively raised my hand to cup her cheek. "Yeah, but you are."

"Please stay away from him." She said softly. "He's nuts and I wouldn't trust him not to hurt you."

"Macy, we need to call and report this to the police." I said. "You can't keep letting him get away with things."

"I already called." She sighed. "They said someone would be over to talk to me and do whatever else it is they need to do."

"Good," I sighed. "This is so crazy. Why would he do this to you?"

She shrugged. "He doesn't like that I told anyone about what happened. Even though I really didn't tell anyone, Anna Marie did."

"I'm sorry if I made this worse from what I did." I said.

She looked around at all the broken glass around her. "When I was a little girl I always dreamed of living in LA. I wanted to be a singer or an actress. I wanted to drive fancy cars and have people come up and ask for my autograph. The media makes it seem so beautiful. I never dreamed that living out here could be so ugly."

"I need to tell you about something." I said. "Let's get away from this mess first though?"

She let me help her up and dusted the glass off her clothes. She said she'd sat out to clean up but hand broke down and called the cops instead. That's why she was crying. She felt bad about calling the cops on that bastard.

"What do you need to tell me?" Macy asked as she sat down on her couch.

"Okay, I have a hard time talking about this so let me just through it all out there before you say anything?" I asked.

She nodded. "Okay."

"I used to date this girl, Ashley. When it started out she was sweet and didn't really say much. We were together in total about seven months. Next thing I know she's doing lines of Coke off the dinner table and she's having these wild parties in my house when I'm not home. So, I broke up with her and asked for my key back." I took a deep breath. "She begged me not to leave her and said she'd get help. She told me that she needed me to stay in her life for the baby."

"She was pregnant!" Macy hopped to her feet.

"Please, let me finish." I sounded like I was begging, but I guess I kind of was.

"Mitch-"

"Please." I begged.

"Fine." She says back down and started tapping her foot. "Go on."

"Well after that of course I agreed we'd work it out. She convinced me she was going to therapy and doing outpatient rehab. We had good days and bad days. There were days she'd scream that she was having someone else's baby and it wasn't my business what she did. Other days we'd snuggle up on the couch and it's be a perfect day. I could tell she was trying her best, or so I thought. I really believed in her, until one night I got done with a show early and I came home to find her on my living room floor unconscious." I took a breath to get this next part out fast. "She'd overdosed on heroin and was rushed to the hospital. They revived her since I'd come home in time and called as soon as I found her. She survived and was going to be fine. After that night she stole three of my credit cards and disappeared."

"What about the baby?" Macy asked.

"There wasn't a baby." I swallowed hard. "Never had been a baby at all. Doctors said she probably just said it to get me to stay with her."

"She was never even pregnant?" Macy looked as shocked as I felt when I found out for myself.

"Nope."

"Has she ever tried to contact you?" Macy was mystified. "A call or a letter?"

"After I discovered my missing credit cards I reported it. Nothing came of the investigation so I decided it was time to move forward. I changed my number, and I moved. So, no I haven't heard from her since." I said.

"Why are you telling me about her?"

"You deserve to know, and because I don't want you to thing this shit with Reggie is going to scare me off." I heard a knock on her door. "I'll get that and we can talk more about this later."

She nodded and stood up trying to wipe under her eyes. Even a complete mess, she was gorgeous. Macy knew everything now, well the fast version at least. I'm happy I was open with her. I know I made the right decision. As I let the police in I realized just how much I was starting to care about Macy.
