9. I want one

Emily's P.O.V

Chaos.

Total and utter chaos, is the phrase which would define the next day perfectly. For a fact, office starts at 09:00 and so I usually wake up at around 07:45. Yeah, I'm not a morning person. I lazily do everything and then I get coffee in my system. But today I woke up at 08:15 because I forgot to put my alarm because I feel asleep on the counter thinking about Louis.

It's official!! It's all Louis' fault!!!

Anyways, I get up and quickly do my business in the bathroom. When I come out I see it's 08:43 and it takes at least ten minutes to walk to work. I quickly get dressed and forget about my breakfast. I gather everything and run towards Starbucks. It's become a rule that even if I was hit by a car or been shot or actually assassinated in my sleep. I.Must.Get.Coffee.

So I run towards Tori and tell her to make the usual except for Harry's drink. That little piece of poo wants a different drink everyday and usually texts me about it five minutes before office. I sit down and see that today Harry wants a 'hot caramel macchiato'. I give Tori the order and wait for a few minutes. When my order number is called out, I grab the drinks and power walk towards the firm. I arrive there and reach for my badge in my purse. It was at that moment that I knew, I fucked up.

I handed the guard my coffee stand and start vigorously searching for my badge. I kept searching for a good two minutes but I couldn't find it. I can't believe I forgot it home! 

"Come on dude I come here everyday! You know me! Literally I say good morning to you everyday. How can you not remember me?" I said. "Sorry but a lot of people work here and I can't remember each and every one of them." He said letting the other person who had his badge, go inside. It was already 09:12. "Listen, I swear I'll never forget it again, I promise but please let me go inside I'm already late and I nearly got fired yesterday. I can't afford to make another mistake." I pleaded but he didn't budge and just said, "No badge, no entry."

Now my only option was to go home and get my badge and be late and get fired, or maybe I can take a sick day. Oh come on me and I both know I would never do that. When I made up my mind and turned around to go home I bumped into something  or should I say someone but thankfully my coffee didn't fall and die on the floor. "Ohmigosh I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was goi-" I said apologizing but stopped when I saw who it was. I was right the first time, it isn't someone, it's something. A monster. A monster who keeps threatening people about them getting fired. He gave me a look which was difficult to read and then shrugged it off, "Yeah okay...."

He started going towards the firm when he suddenly realized that I was going the other direction. "Wait, where are you going?" He spoke loudly due to the distance and started walking towards me. I started walking too so that I would meet him halfway, "Oh..Um... You see, uh I kinda sorta forgot my badge back at home and he wouldn't let me in so I'm going to get it back." I said pointing towards the security guy accusingly. "Don't. Pointing is bad manners." He said lowering my hand. I blushed slightly but regained my composure. "Come on." he said telling me to follow him. I quietly walked behind him as we reached the building. "Good morning Mr. Tomlinson." the same security guy said. Louis gave him a small nod to him before saying, "Yes, Mason this young lady is with me." he said, gesturing towards me. Being the awkward person I am I waved at Mason. "Of course Mr. Tomlinson. Have a good day." He let us in and started checking other's badges.

"Thanks." I said while we were walking towards the elevator. He just moved his head a little and it was silent. When we were in the elevator, to break the awkwardness I handed him his coffee. He took the cup out of my hand and just stared at the numbers shifting. "Why were you late?" I asked shamelessly. When I realized what I had said I quickly started apologizing. He chuckled and said, "No, it's okay. I was late because I had been up for a long time last night and I slept in. What about you Miss Owen, you're not too early yourself." He had that cheeky smirk on his face which made me smile and I said, "Well you see I was baking brownies last night and when they were ready, I did the obvious thing, started eating them but I slept halfway through eating one and so I forgot to put my alarm. I usually wake up at  quarter to eight but I woke up at eight fifteen today so basically you can say I slept in, the same as you. What time do you wake up?" I asked still not aware that I'm not supposed to ask my boss when he wakes up or tell him when I wake up.

He had an amused expression on his face and said, "Oh um, I wake up at around six. Got a little late today..... Wait, you woke up at eight fifteen? Did you have breakfast then?" "Uhh....no.." I said timidly. I don't know why but it just felt a little weird talking to him casually. "What? Oh my god Emily you know how cranky you get if you don't eat anything." he said clearly remembering the old times where I used to snatch his cookies in school. "Yeah I mean, it's okay. I'll have a heavy lunch. So that's alright." "What? That's nonsense. Come on I'll get you breakfast. Let me keep this then we'll go to the cafeteria." He said mentioning towards his briefcase. "Huh? No I'll be okay, anyways the cafeteria only serves lunch and that too at a specific time!" I said emphasizing on specific as I still think this rule is bogus. "I think you're forgetting who I am love." He said while keeping his briefcase and walking towards the elevator "Come on now"

We reach the cafeteria and Louis walks out first and I follow him. He goes to the cafeteria lady there and tells her, "I'd like to have three chocolate chip cookies, one muffin, and one glass of orange juice." The lady just nods her head and starts gathering everything. While waiting for my breakfast I tell Louis, "You don't have to be super nice to me you know. It was okay." I said mentioning about the incident the day before. I don't know what triggered him but his voice got low and he sternly said, "I know. But don't expect anything else. Breakfast is the most important meal and hence all this...." I nodded slightly and the cafeteria lady gave Louis a tray full of everything he asked for. "Here." he said handing me the tray and taking one of the cookies and walking away. I smiled and sat down to eat my breakfast. I ate it quickly because of the stares of the lady there.

I walk towards Niall's office and knock on it. "Late eh? Was busy last night?" he said teasingly winking. I rolled my eyes and handed him his coffee and went towards my cubicle. I hand Harry his coffee and luckily he didn't have any boxes at his desk today. "Late! Bad girl." he said while smirking. "Yes, and this bad girl will spill her coffee over her best friend if he doesn't shut up." "Ok ok fine no need to be aggressive. So what did Louis think about you being late?" He said smiling as if he was excited to hear the different ways that guy yells at me. "Oh, now that's a very interesting part of my day..." I sit down and start telling him everything. After I finished Harry said, "Dude, I want one." "Oh shut up. Besides it's the only time it's happened. Not before, not after. He said it himself." I said. "But that doesn't mean its true! I'll bet five bucks that he'll do something nice for you. Starting today till next Saturday. Deal?" "Deal" 

We got to work and it had only been ten minutes before Harry rolled into my mini office and said, no no let me rephrase that, screamed in my ear, "YOU CALLED ME YOUR BEST FRIEND!!"
