We went back to my London house, it seemed too late to travel all the way back to Glastonbury that night, so we decided in the car ride back that we'd stay over in London and head back in the morning.
I wondered how Zoe was, I'd text her a few times throughout the day, but she'd not replied, I'd offered to stay with her instead but she was going back to her sister's house in Slough so I at least knew she was safe, but I thought I should just call her and make sure.
It took ages for her to answer, and the car was nearly at my house.
"Hey Zo" I said when she finally picked up
"Hey" she replied
"How was the tv show?" She asked
"Good" I lied, I'd text her later when Jesse wasn't looking over my shoulder and tell her how mind numbingly boring it was.
"I'm just checking in on you" I said
"How are you?" I asked
"I'm alright, psycho-bitch is out though, she's been calling and texting me, threatening me," said Zoe
"Really? Keep all the messages Zo, in case you need them as evidence and just ignore it all, don't answer the phone and don't reply to texts, she'll get bored eventually, let her sort it out with Sam, he's the one who needs to be getting all the shit for this" I advised, I didn't want any more drama or anymore hurt for Zoe, she'd been through enough.
"Yeah" said Zoe
"Are you at Katy's place?" I asked, checking she was safe for the night
"Yeah.." there was something she wasn't telling me, I could tell by her tone of voice
"Uh... Sam is with me" admitted Zoe, quietly.
"What? Your sister let him in? Won't that just cause his wife to go mental again?" I asked, annoyed that she wouldn't just leave him alone, I got it, she loved him, letting go would be hard but he was married, I had always thought that nothing should stand in the way of love and that you should fight for it at all costs but I'd come to realise that wasn't always the case, sometimes it just wasn't meant to be, it was too late, too complicated and I knew that Zoe deserved better, she needed to leave him now and concentrate on getting over it!
"Yeah. Katy is cool with him" said Zoe, I didn't know what to say
"Oh" I replied,
"I'm fine, Ol, don't worry. I'll call you tomorrow" said Zoe, I knew she didn't want to talk to me, she knew I wasn't happy about her decision to be with him after everything that had happened, she could have been killed because of him! In my opinion she needed time away from him, to think, to determine if he was what she really wanted, did she really want to break up a marriage? To potentially have her parents never speak to her again. I wasn't sure that was the life she wanted; she was just so blinded by love. But it was her life, her decisions, I needed to take a step back and just be there for her when it all fell apart... and it would.
As I hung up the phone the car pulled up outside our house.
"Thanks Mike, goodnight" said Jesse as we got out of the car to a chorus of screaming teenagers who had followed us home, brilliant, now they know where I live. If Jesse wasn't going to kill me, perhaps one of them would now.
I was too tired for more drama I'm going to let Jesse tell you this part of the story.
(Jesse PoV)
I knew she didn't like this part of my life, I didn't blame her, neither did I really but she could escape it, I couldn't. I was glad she went inside because I felt a really strong need to protect her from it.
