How the fuck do you get yourself into these messes, Scott? :D
He text back almost immediately. Weird, you'd think pop stars would be busier, apparently not.
I told him about my little train mishap, I knew he wouldn't be surprised, it was just what I do, some kind of character trait, travel fuck up, much like being chatty or kind or adventurous, fucking up travel was my thing. When I was being formed in the womb the cells were like shall we give her a good sense of humour? What about giving her the ability to sing like an angel? No, I've got it! Let's give her the inability to get anywhere, every time she attempts to travel anywhere on any mode of transport, she'll screw it up. Yeah! That's it!
Not sure, it just seems to happen to me. Fault in my DNA or something?
How come you text back so quick? Aren't you about to entertain 10,000 girls?
I wrote but before I could even press send my phone rang.
"Hi" I answered
"Hey you!" He said, I'd missed that voice, the accent. Him. I'd just missed him.
I didn't realise quite how much until I heard his voice again.
"Aren't you supposed to be entertaining 10,000 girls right now instead of calling me?" I asked
"Not yet, warm up band is still on, so I can spare a minute for you" he replied, with a cheeky tone.
"Gee, thanks" I replied sarcastically. He laughed
"How are you?" He asked, his tone changed to serious
"I'm ok" I replied. I was, the year hadn't been the easiest, but I was doing ok.
"Just ok? Because you miss me?" He teased,
Fuck yes, I missed you! I didn't know quite how much until now, I said, silently, in my head.
"No!" I lied
"Just had a tough start to the year" I admitted
"Oh, are you sure you're ok?" He asked, dropping the jokey attitude.
"Yeah, too much to explain over the phone... and when you only have one spare minute for me!" I joked, lightening the mood again, I didn't want to have a serious heart to heart over the phone in the few minutes he had. The joking was fine by me, I probably needed it to be honest.
"Hang on a second, let me go somewhere quieter" he replied, it was noisy in the background, I could hear the thump of the bass from the band on stage and lots of people talking around him.
A few moments later all the noise had gone.
"That's better. So, are you really ok?" He asked
"Yeah. I've just had a tough start to the year. I mean the way things ended with us wasn't great, was it. Then a couple days after that Zoe OD'd, we nearly lost her, Jee left uni for good, with all that's gone on I've struggled to keep up at uni, it's just been hard but honestly, I am ok. I just need a rest over Easter, and I'll be fine" I explained, honestly
"Oh god! Zoe OD'd! Is she ok?" He asked
"Yeah, she is good now, Sam finally left his wife, they're together now, I think they're really happy" I told him
"That's good, I'm glad that whole thing had a happy ending" he replied. I could tell by the tone of his voice that he was referring to the fact that we didn't.
I didn't say anything back. It was awkwardly silent for a moment.
"Don't you need to go do your thing?" I asked
