We arrived back in London around midday the following day after deciding that it wasn't fair on my parents for us to stay the rest of the week now that Jesse's fans knew where he was staying. They wouldn't leave us alone, they would be at the house day and night until he was gone, and I think that would have made my parents feel uneasy, which didn't seem fair in their own house, so we headed back to my tiny London cupboard, I mean house, but my parents had cupboards in their house bigger than my London bedroom!
The house was empty, I wasn't sure where Zoe was, probably at Sam's I guessed. We had a chilled-out couple of days in London, we didn't leave the house once. We had takeaway for every meal and didn't get dressed at all like a couple of slobs. I felt like Jesse needed a rest, he looked shattered, and I was totally fine with a slobbing around in my pjs for a couple days, with no Uni until the end of September that's pretty much all I planned to do for the next 3 months anyway.
Zoe didn't come home at all, I started to worry about her. I text her and called but couldn't get hold of her. So, against my better judgement, I text Sam.
Hey Sam,
It's Olly, I'm just trying to get hold of Zo, is she with you? X
Yeah
Came the reply about 2 hours later. Brilliant, that's helpful I thought.
I heard nothing more from either of them.
It was just starting to get dark when Zoe finally came home, with Sam. I could tell they were both annoyed to find me and Jesse at the house.
"Hey, Ols, I didn't expect you to be home from Glastonbury yet" she said as she burst in the door, followed by Sam.
"Oh, yeah, Jesse's fans were annoying my parents, so we didn't think it was fair to stay there" I told them.
Neither of them looked very happy, I wasn't quite sure why.
"Yeah, they're already annoying us outside" snarled Sam. I scrunched up my face in response to his odd comment. Was he pissed off that I was home? That Jesse was here? That his fans were outside? None of them really affected him, he didn't live here, and the fans had no interest in him, but there was something. An uncomfortable air between us, Zoe just laughed a little, trying to brush it off as a joke but it was obvious to all that it wasn't.
I let it go.
"Hey man" said Jesse stepping towards Sam he held out a hand to him. Thanks babe I praised him silently in my own head, happy that he was doing the right thing and attempting to make peace for mine and Zoe's sake I knew Jesse didn't like Sam, and vice versa but I was grateful for Jesse's effort.
"We're gonna go out for dinner soon, if you want to join us" I said politely, hoping that that they would say no, I didn't fancy dinner with miserable Sam, but it seemed polite to offer.
I knew it was a bad idea from the moment I suggested it. I could feel it in my womb! Or somewhere equally weird and intuitive.
"Thanks babe, uh, yeah, we were just going to grab a pizza, but I guess we could, right?" replied Zoe, looking back at Sam for approval.
"Sure" Sam replied, unenthusiastically
"Let me just run up and change quickly" said Zoe, running up the stairs, Sam followed behind her, probably so he could curse her in private for accepting our offer to come out to dinner. He didn't strike me as the double dating kind!"Thank you" I whispered sincerely as I walked over to Jesse and wrapped my arms around his waist.
"For what?" He asked, looking down at me, his eyes sparking from the kitchen spotlights.
