(Olly PoV)
Mollie and I were walking along the lane just outside of the festival, her words swirling around my head as I walked, my parents' farmhouse was only around 5 minutes' walk down to the end of the lane.
I'd sobered up a little and didn't feel sick anymore, the walk and the fresh air helped.
I could see headlights behind, so we moved into the hedge a little, but instead of passing, the car stopped, and I realised it was Jesse's posh, black, shiny chauffeur-driven fancy-ass car. Show off.
"Wanna ride girls?" He asked, stepping out from the back seat.
"Yes please" I replied, walking back towards him.
Mollie gave him a quick hug
"You were amazing Jesse" she gushed before getting into the car
"Ah thank you" he smiled, then his eyes turned to me, his smile got bigger.
Man, he was beautiful! I know I say this a lot, but he just was.
"Hey, you" he said in his super sexy accent
"Hi" I replied, feeling like a giddy teenager, I was beginning to get the whole fan thing, until recently he didn't seem famous to me, he was just Jesse, there was none of the fancy ass shit but the more I saw of that side of his life, and having just played the pyramid stage was pretty much up there with the fancy ass shit! The more I began to feel self-conscious around him, to feel lucky to be in his presence, I was starting to see him for the star that he was, and it made me nervous.
He wrapped his big arms around me, pulling me into his chest. He smelled so good! I wasn't sure how someone can jump around on a stage for hours and still smell amazing, but he did. Some sort of superpower perhaps.
I buried my head in his chest and I felt him kiss the top of my head. After a moment I realised we were blocking the entire lane and I quickly got in the car and slid along the seat to Mollie.
"Just along to the end of the lane, please Mike" said Jesse to his driver.
We were dropped off at the end of my parent's driveway and Mike sped away. Frankie was waiting on his motorbike for Mollie.
I was happy for her, Frankie was really lovely, well from the small amount of time I'd spent with him at least, he seemed cool, the biker dude type, I didn't know much about him, but Mollie and I had talked about him earlier in the day whilst sat on the grass at the festival. She told me she'd met him at work, he came in to get his hand stitched up after a motorbike injury and like all good love stories he'd later found her and stalked her on Instagram for a while before sliding into her dm's!
He looked like he should be in Jesse's band, longish dark hair, tucked behind his ears and really dark brown eyes.
He wore a lot of dark colours, dark skinny jeans, plaid shirts open over a T-shirt and often a leather jacket. For a kind of rough and ready guy he had a sweet smile and a kind face and on Christmas Day he got on so well with Jesse, I could imagine us double dating and going on holiday together, all four of us, if Mollie and I both managed not to fuck things up! It was more likely me, wasn't it. I mean you haven't known me long, but I already know that's what you were thinking... isn't it! Well you're not wrong, Mollie wasn't perfect but she certainly didn't inherit my inability to get through a day.. no, to get through lunch without catastrophically ruining it! If anyone was going to fuck a relationship into the ground, it was me. Hence the reason I had tried to keep my distance, I didn't want to get close to anyone or let anyone in because ultimately, I knew how it was going to end and it's never a happy ending with me.
If there's just no blood though I'd call it a win.
Mollie walked ahead of us, straight over to Frankie, wrapping her arms around his neck she kissed him. He passed her a helmet and she put it on, climbing on the back of his bike.
"You're going back out?" I asked as I got closer to them.
"I'm gonna stay at Frankie's" said Mollie
"Oh, ok. Have fun. See you tomorrow" I replied,
I was kind of gutted, having Mollie and Frankie at Mum and Dads took some of the heat off me and meant that I had some back up if needed. I was going to have to go it alone!
"Goodnight" she replied, and they sped off down the lane.
"So, shall we go to your place?" I joked
"My place is kind of a mess right now, let's just stay here" Jesse teased.
Thankfully, it was midnight and Mum, and Dad were already in bed.
I kicked off my wellies and went to pour a glass of water
"Do you want a drink?" I asked Jesse
"Yeah please" he replied, wandering over to the glass patio doors he peered out, watching the lights from the festival a few fields over. The music was still loud inside the house.
"Is it weird that you were on that stage 30 minutes ago?" I asked, I really felt like he lived a life a million miles away from mine, I wasn't sure I could ever be a part of that life, not properly or permanently because it didn't seem real to me. I couldn't get my head around who he was. He was just my boyfriend, and I hadn't yet even got used to that! Just minutes ago he was on the stage with 200 thousand people watching him and screaming his name, he was being live streamed on the tv to millions of people around the world and tomorrow he will be on the front page of magazines and newspapers, it was a dream world, one that I felt like a complete misfit. I wasn't sure this was going to end well, given that I couldn't see any kind of future where our opposite lives could intertwine.
"Yeah. When I'm on the stage I'm in my head and I think about the now and it feels normal, but as soon as I come off it feels like I just dreamt it and I can't imagine being up there. It's a weird existence" he replied, with his back to me, still staring out of the window.
"Are you sure you want to be here? you can go back if you want, I don't mind" I said, he turned around and laughed a little
"Go back? Are you kidding? I can't get out of those places quick enough!" He replied. Oh, I thought
"There's nowhere I'd rather be than here" he smiled
He looked back outside into the garden.
"Is that a hot tub?" He asked, looking out into the darkness
"Yeah" I answered, he turned back to me with a cheeky smile
"Nope!" I said, straight away, anticipating his next move
"What? Why?" He asked, scrunching up his face.
"Because a hot tub to most people is romantic, sexy, a lovely experience, but not with me, you know me enough to know that!" I explained
"Don't be silly, how could you possibly make that a bad experience?" He asked, underestimating me.
"The last time I got in there was the summer I left college, I had a little party with some friends to celebrate, we got drunk, got in the hot tub, I was showing them my skills with how long I can stay underwater, which is a lot longer than I thought, given that my hair got caught in the bubble jet and I almost drowned, no one realised I was stuck for ages and I passed out, they had to call an ambulance and everything" I told him
The look on his face suggested he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Truth was it was the scariest moment of my whole life, I literally thought I was going to die. Suffice to say I was never getting in a hot tub ever again!!
