Trying hard not to think about this, I figured that now was better than ever. If my father was going to be here, he was going to have to get used to the fact that Tanner was going to be here too.
As soon as I had left the day after talking to my father, he asked to meet him. I put it off for a week, saying that school was in the way, but I couldn't do it anymore. Tanner said it'd be okay but I was still iffy.
"And you'll be here soon?"
"Right around the corner. I can't wait to kiss you."
"Neither can I," I chuckled.
"And what else?"
"It feels like it's been forever since we've talked. I can't wait!"
"Not where I was going but I'll take it."
I heard his laughter on the phone before I heard it as he walked closer to my house. Jumping up from the steps, I rushed over to him. He grasped my waist as we held each other.
We stayed away from each other while I got used to my father being back. And brother. It was still a new thing. So our bodies got closer as they realized the space we had put between us.
"I've missed you," he started to take his mask so it lay to one side over his left ear.
"And I've missed you, Stalker," I said as I pecked his lips.
Once the shock wore off, he grasped my chin so that he led the kiss. It turned heated as his tongue pushed against my lips. Nothing else mattered for a few seconds, not our families or cars passing by, just us.
"Excuse me."
We broke the kiss to see my father. I bit my swollen lip as I looked down. Did he watch that entire thing? Mortification drowned me. My father wasn't supposed to see that.
They do say that with every great moment comes every embarrassing one. No, actually, I don't think anyone says that.
"Uh, Tanner, my dad. Dad, Tanner, my boyfriend." I waved my right hand between them since my left arm was on Tanner's back.
"It's uh, nice to meet you...again." Tanner took his mask off and extended his hand.
My father didn't take it. Despair swirled in my chest as my father just stared at him. My eyebrows rose and I caught his eyes. Silently begging him, I hoped he understood.
"It would have been nicer if I didn't have to witness you shoving your tongue down my daughter's throat."
"Dad," I sighed under my breath.
"I'm sorry. That won't happen again."
I grabbed Tanner's hand which was still in midair. Locking it with mine, he looked over and smiled. It was one that I knew meant awkward. I nodded my head twice.
"No, it won't. Come inside, we are playing games."
"Shells!"
"Seb," I sang as he jumped up and down.
Picking him up, I spun in circles a few times. He was heavy and I struggled, I also didn't want to hurt his middle. I don't know how guy parts worked and hoped I wasn't squeezing him.
"Tanner, meet my brother Sebastian. Sebastian, meet Tanner, my boyfriend."
"Eww! Cooties!"
"The only kind I'll ever want!" I laughed as I tickled him.
