Chapter 3 - Training

Note: this entire chapter is like a flash back. It takes place before the academy.

Itachi's pov
(Naruto is around 5 at the time making itachi 10. Let's just say Itachi is already in the anbu for the sake of the story)

I decided to train in the forest of death as I wanted to push myself. I heard that the forest of death has many deadly animals and it's name is not to be taken lightly.

I headed in concealing my chakra and avoided as many animals as possible when I felt a sudden spike in chakra. I headed towards the spike and saw a little kid sitting on a log in the middle of the forest.

What was a kid doing here? Didn't he know it was dangerous? I snuck a little closer to see bright blond hair and light whisker marks. He was yondaime's legacy as I remebered. His name was naruto right?

I was going to approach him when he started meditating. I stared in awe as I felt strong yet relaxing chakra flow through the air. Before I could wrap my head around what was happening with the meditating 5 year old, his eyes shot open. He must have sensed me.

How did he do it? Well it's not my place to ask as the same question was shot at me 24/7 when I graduated the academy at 7.

I got out my hiding spot and smiled at the little blond. To my confusion the blond took a defensive stance. I immediately remembered his status as a jinchuriki.

"Why are you here, are you here to hurt me?" Naruto shouted with authority.

This slightly broke my heart. I knew how all jinchuriki were treated and I never went to check on my mother's best friends child. Who knew what he's been through.

"Sorry I should have came out straight away, I was just impressed by you chakra control." I replied sheepishly.

Naruto's pov

I broke my defensive stance realizing he was in anbu attire except he was missing his mask. I realized the fact that he was without his mask meant he came here to train.

"Uh mister do you happen to be Uchiha Itachi?" I questioned still shocked an anbu just complimented me.

"Yes how did you know?" Itachi replied hiding his shocked reaction.

"Well kurama, I mean kyuubi practically forced me to train my mental abilities along with my physical abilities. I've heard about you and your like really strong right?" I replied.

"Uhh yeah I guess so but what about you? If I'm not wrong your 5 this year but your chakra signature is huge." Itachi replied becoming very intrigued with me as I mentioned the kyuubi.

"Well I've been training since I was 3, I had to protect myself from..." my voice trailed off as the memory of those villagers haunted me. Itachi saw my current state walked closer to me and patted my head.

"Hey look it's okay do you need any help with your training?" Itachi asked changing the subject.

I was confused. Why would the great uchiha prodigy want to help the 'kyuubi brat' as all the villagers called me. "Why would you want to help me?" I shakily asked.

"Well I should have been there for you. The fact that your training with the kyuubi must mean you know your parents right?" Itachi replied

I dumbly nodded my head and continued listening to the dark haired guy, I mean boy, he's only 10 right?

"I've met your mother a few times as my mother was pretty close to her, they were practically best friends. I even saw your mother pregnant with you." Itachi exclaimed.

I smiled at the remark. "You want to hear about your parents?" The older one asked.

3rd person pov

Itachi explained the 'scaryness' of the red hot blooded habanero and the nice personality of the konoha's yellow flash. Itachi even recommended sandaime to give naruto a few sealing jutsus and kenjutsu scrolls passed down from his parents.

"Hey Itachi" sandaime called out as the blond walked out the hokage's office first.

"Yes hokage-sama?"

"In your free time, please go checkup on naruto, naruto being naruto and me being hokage makes it kinda hard to give reports on his training. You being an anbu gives me lots of time to talk to you so just fill me in in naruto every now and again alright?" The hokage asked.

"Hai, hokage sama"

Time skip to training in the forest of death

Itachi walked out to catch up to naruto only to find him no where to be seen. Itachi then headed to the forest of death being the most likely place the little blond would be.

"Hey Itachi!" Naruto beamed looking up from his precious scrolls. "What brings you here?"

"Sandaime asked me to do progress reports on your training, I think the best way to do that is to stick with you while you train," explained Itachi.

"Oh, well if your going to be here can you help with a few fuuton jutsus? It's my best affinity but kurama asked me to train suiton and doton more"

"Sure, fuuton is my 2nd or 3rd best affinity, if you want real elemental training, I suggest you go to kakashi, he's masters tons of jutsu's from each element."

Itachi immediately listened back to what he just said, 'damn it I just told him about kakashi, naruto is  going to have a lot of questions, but something tells me he's mature enough' Itachi thought.

'Huh kakashi, I could have sworn I heard that name before' naruto thought racking his brain for an answer.

"Kit it's kakashi of the sharingan, he uses his sharingan to copy jutsus, damn that stupid eye." grumbled kurama.

"Ohhhh kakashi of the sharingan" Naruto finally replied.

'How am I not surprised?' Itachi thought staring at a child prodigy who's most likely read the bingo book,  no probably memorized it.

Itachi proceeded to give naruto a few pointers on fuuton style and that carried on for the rest of the week.

Time skip one week

"Dang naruto you already mastered D rank kaze bunshin (wind clone) and C rank fuuton daitoppa (wind style great breakthrough) in a week, fuuton really does come naturally for you. Your getting close to kaze bunshin bakuha (wind clone explosion) a B rank jutsu. I suggest your take the next few days off, you've been training non stop, I'll report your progress to the hokage." Explained Itachi.

"But..." Naruto stammered wanting to train more.

"C'mon Kit I'm tired of healing all your exhaustion from training all day" kurama added.

"Hai Itachi sensei" Naruto replied.
