Leaf and Branch

33 13 5

A leaf,

The shade of a baked pot,

Fluttered and fluttered -

restlessly.

Too eager to explore the world,

Away from its reach,

The world around the tree,

Away from the branch.

Curious to feel the soil,

That stretched for miles.

To see the pebbles,

Big and small.

To meet the little sprouts,

Scattered all around.

So, without waiting further

It leapt

And fell down,

On the soil, on the pebbles,

Swept by the winds,

Met the sprouts.

The taste of new found freedom,

Couldn't stay any longer

Crushed -

Beneath feet,

It couldn't flutter anymore.

Movement seized,

It vanished,

In the soil,

Remembering -

The one that cradled it,

The one that nurtured it,

The one it abandoned,

The branch.
