First Flight

Perched on a tree branch,

In a shell asleep for days,

Sheltered away from troubles and crunches,

It transforms itself in many ways.

One day the shell breaks,

Finally, Oh! The emancipation has knocked,

Out emerged a life wide awake,

Into a new self, it metamorphosed.

Boundless azure bright,

Endless stretched sphere,

Greeted the little life with delight,

Alas! The heart had its fears.

For in a cocoon, it dwelt,

Now, apprehensions, it felt,

Of struggles and survival,

Of first flight and trials,

Of the unknown out there,

Of self-doubt and despair.

To tame her fear, she closed her eyes,

And deep in her heart, she took a dive,

Faith, there it was, her gentle guide,

Ushering her for the first flight.

Little butterfly pondered and blinked,

Slowly, she waved her wings,

And Lo! She fluttered and fly,

Breaking the bondage of fear,

In the bright blue sky.
