CHAPTER ONE: Lab Partners

"Whatcha drawing?" Miles Turner asked grabbing Elijah's purple sketchbook. "NOTHING! Oh-Dammit!" Elijah said squeezing the bridge of his nose because he ended up getting a long pencil scratch on the eye he was sketching. "That took me like 6 hours last night! Ughh SHIT".

"Well damn ,I'm sorry.. Can't you just erase it?" Miles said raising his hands above his chest and starting to grab his eraser to fix the drawing. Miles was Elijah's bestfriend. Honestly, one of his only friends. He had a peachy skin tone, dirty blonde hair, and almost had a body type that matched Elijah's. "No! No! Just don't worry about it I got it-" Before Elijah could finish, the door to the science classroom slammed open. A tall, caramel-skinned, brown eyed boy, with a black and deep purple varsity jacket walked in. Ramond Lopez was his name, also Elijah's ex-bestfriend. "Mr.Lopez, can you explain to me AND the class why you're late" Mr. Palomino asked as he was grading the papers on his desk. "I was, uh-"

"I know why" Mr. Palomino said letting out a little chuckle. "And can also SEE why", pointing out the red lipstick that was at the top of his jaw, which was also going down to his neck. When Ramond noticed that, he immediately wiped it off with the collar his jacket, and the class started to snicker. "You've been late to my class a lot, Mr. Lopez"

"I know I'm sorry-"

"I don't wanna hear it. If you're late to my class one more time it's a detention." Palomino said firmly, "Take the slip, have a seat, and spend some time studying. We have a test this Friday and I really don't wanna have to put in a bad word for you to Coach Wilson." Palomino said firmly pointing him to down the aisle of desks. "Yes sir," Ramond said under his breath, trying not to make eye contact with anyone staring at him. "What were you doing that made you so late to class?" Landon asked mockingly, "More like WHO was he doing before class?" Victor said letting out a little chuckle alongside Omar. Landon, Victor and Omar were Ramond's three closest friends, even though he had more, these three were the closest to him. In fact, all of them have been friends since the 8th grade.

"Boys! Get back to your seats before I have to write you all up again" Palomino demanded as he was still looking down at his papers. "How can you-"

"I'm not stupid. I did the same thing in high school, now get in your seat Mr. Kanimi, I won't say it again".

Ramond pulled out his science notebook of his backpack and started to studying his notes that he made up, from this week and last week, given the fact he was always late to this class from making out with his girlfriend, Naomi Drummond, in the janitor's closet every time at the start of 4th period, they didn't care if they were late to their 4th periods, as long as they got to see each other, do a little bit of kissing they didn't mind.

30 minutes passed by, and the bell rung for everybody to go to their next classes.

"Wait hold on" Mr. Palomino announced closing the door. "I've assigned an interesting science project for you all to do, and before you ask, yes it's fun, it'll be a little Neon Lights Project for our class."

The class started to murmur in agreement and excitement when they heard this.

"BUT , I've assigned the lab partners into pairs"

The whole class started to groan in annoyance.

"The first pairs are Landon Allen and Omar Kanimi. Next pair is Veronica Sterling and Alicia Clinton. Third- Oh and be sure you writing these down because I won't be letting you know again. Third is Miles Turner and Victor Reyes..." The list of pairs went on and on, Elijah wasn't really paying attention until he heard his last name.

"...Davis and Ramond Lopez. Looks like you two'll be working together" Palomino mentioned letting out a little chuckle.

"Me and...." Elijah said coming back to reality.

"Lopez" Miles said trying not to laugh or grin, "You're working with Ramond Lopez" Miles couldn't hold it in anymore and started bursting out laughing. "TURNER!" Palomino yelled. Miles fixed his blond hair, and let the grin go away. "I'll see you in detention".
