CHAPTER SIXTEEN: Jamboree

"Ok, I told you all your positions, especially the new positions ok? After we say our prayer Ramond has something to say". Coach Duke explained. The team said their prayer and Ramond got nervous about what he was about to say, he  just told himself think about Elijah.

"Ok, so you guys are my teammates and what I am about to tell you..I know, I mean I hope won't change anything between us, but I don't care if it does." he breathed, "I'm bisexual and in a new relationship with someone from the track team. Again, I don't care what you guys think because I know my worth, and can still fuck you up".

The locker room was silent at first until cheers erupted from everyone except for Landon. The announcements called for the Lake James High School team. "Kick each and every one of those other teams asses!" Coach Duke encouraged.          

The first team that they were playing was the Weston High School team, who's jerseys were red. The team looked a lot stronger than them but they remembered their plays, and just had to stay focused.

When they won against that team, they started cheering. Ramond pointed to his family who were in the bleachers while running across the field

4 teams later

The team they were playing now was South Winter Park High, the team looked a bit sluggish to Ramond but they were surprisingly good under those yellow jerseys. The plays looked better than theirs, this could be their first elimination in 4 years.

Lake James NEVER lost a game in the jamboree for as long as Coach Duke was coach of the football team.

When #73 ran with the ball across the field, Ramond and Omar were at the 50 yard line, Ramond was so close to tackling him but he ended up falling and Omar was too late South Winter Park won that game.  Landon took of his helmet and threw it on the ground as he went to go into the locker room. 

The team followed him mumbling and muttering in distinctly because of that loss, it grew silent when they heard a loud bang, it was Landon slamming his fist into the locker.

"You dropped your helmet Landon" Omar said, dangling it from the tip of his fingers. He looked in Landon's eyes and it was just anger, he slapped the helmet out of Omar's hands and just pushed. "We never lost a fucking jamboree, and now because of you" Landon shoved Omar back, "it's the first."

"Alright you shithead, let me tell you something" Omar snapped, trying to get Ramond to stop restraining him. They were both shoving each other until Landon was about to swing before coach pulled him back. He was yelling trying to get to Omar, "Get the FUCK off me!" he shoved Coach Duke off into the arms of a few other players. Gasps erupted and the arguing stopped.

"You're DONE!" Coach Duke gritted through his teeth. "give me your jersey, and your letterman jacket".

"Coach I..I didn't mean it."

"NOW!"

Nobody ever seen Coach that angry, him screaming made everyone feel like turning in their jerseys too, and they didn't even do anything.

"You've been causing problems on and off the field. You are a goddamn eighteen year old, and here you go acting like a child. You, Landon Allen, won't be causing anymore problems on my name, you're off the team until you showed me you grew up. Now give me. Your. Jersey."

Landon threw the purple jersey at the coach and said "I'm gonna make sure my dad's lawyer hears about this".

"Then you'll be wasting your time" Coach Duke laughed as he watched Landon leave the locker room.

He turned back to face the team. "Hope you guys enjoyed to show" he rubbed his hands together "No matter what you guys think, that last game was impressive, some things you need to work on, but even though this is the first jamboree I lost in my seven years of coaching this team, you guys did good". 

Ramond watched as Coach Duke went into his office, he whispered to Omar, "Do you think he's serious about pressing charges?"

"I don't give not one big flying fuck about Landon" Omar replied taking off his shirt.

"Hey" Ramond sat down next to Elijah and gave him a kiss on the lips.

"Sorry about that loss" Elijah said placing his head on Ramond's shoulders.

"Yeah, son that game was great" Gabriel complimented giving him a thumbs up and letting out a smile.

"They just kissed" Gabriel whispered to Angelica, "do you think that we should let him come out to us, or just tell him we already know?"

"Both" Angelica squealed.

"Y'all didn't know that Elijah and Ramond are dating now?" Lena whispered eating some of her nachos.

"I mean we just found out" Gabriel scoffed. "Mijo can you go get us some food?"

"Yeah, do you guys want anything?" Ramond asked to Elijah, Dallas, Freddie, and Aaliyah.

"Just get me some nachos" Freddie told him with his eyes being focused on the field.

"Get me some Sour Patch kids" Elijah told him.

"I don't want anything" Aaliyah said.

"Just get me a gatorade" Dallas said.

Asia-Lynn was on the field, doing some dance routines with the Ravishingly Raven's team around the track field. Her hair was let-down and in curls, she was wearing a purple unitard that had her back showing and there was purple glittery makeup on her face along with the rest of the girls.

When Ramond was walking to the concession stand, he was stopped by Naomi. "What the hell is going on? Why did Landon just tell me he got kicked off the team? What did you do?" She was furious, she even shoved Ramond back a little by pushing his chest with her index finger.

"I, didn't do anything, he shoved the coach, now excuse me" he rolled his eyes trying to get to the line.

She stopped him again. "Wait, he told me that you ...have a boyfriend now...i-it's not true is it?" she stammered  as tears filled her eyes.

"What does it matter? You have one now too. " Ramond replied coldly.

"It matters because I hope you weren't making me look stupid. Did you...did you have feelings for him while we were together? Were you on the...downlow?" her voice broke. She was hoping that she would get the answer she wanted.

Make her look stupid?

"How was I making you look stupid? So what if I had feelings for him while we were together, I didn't act on them. I stayed loyal to you. You cheated on me first. Move on already."

He walked past her and moved into the line while she ran off crying. After he got the food he didn't feel bad. Not one bit. If Landon had something to say about it, then he'll let him say it, but most of all college interviews were coming up in January so he really wasn't trying to fuck up his chances of getting into Florida State University.
