The Beginning (A Flames Pond Fanfic)

Chapter 5

Jared answered his brothers question,
"You just show up. We have to go to Ottumwa, Iowa. That's where dad built the agency."
"Okay," Adam said, "how long will we be there?"
"Six weeks then you'll be back here for another six weeks. It'll be a new lifestyle, Adam. And when we're back home, we can't mess around. Usually we have a mission to compleat here and-"
Adam cut Jared off by saying,
"Yeah yeah. I get it. So I can't tell anyone I'm an agent?"

Adam saw his mom and brother both shake their heads 'no.' They told him it'd be too dangerous for people to know since the Fuzzy Guy's henchmen could attack them and the Fuzzy Guy has spies everywhere. Adam understood that and they all went upstairs. In silence, Adam and his brother went upstairs to his (Adam's) room and he started packing. Jared stopped him when he said,
"You don't need to do that. We already have stuff for you there."
"Really?" Adam asked.

Jared walked over and he placed his hands on Adam's shoulders.
"Why would I lie to you?" He asked, "yes we have stuff for you because we've been waiting for you to join us. Jasper said that you'll be the one to defeat The Fuzzy Guy and bring order to the agency."
Adam stared at Jared with a blank expression on his face. "What is he talking about?" Adam wondered as he got out of Jared's grasp.
"Okay whatever," Adam said casually but on the inside he was freaking out.

How can he bring order to the agency? Did something go amiss? Whatever it was, the other agents were counting on Adam.
"But I need to know this," he said as they walked out, "can my sister know about me being an agent?"
Adam saw Jared frown.
"No. She can't. Why?"

Adam was shocked by the question.
"Because she looks up to me," he stated as they walked down the stairs.
Jared kept quiet and Adam saw Jasper and Gabriel in the hallway. "When did they get here?" Adam wondered as he forced a smile.
"We're glad you are finally joining us Mr. Young," Jasper said.
"Thanks," Adam said more as a question than a normal reply.

"They only met me yesterday. It's not like they knew I'd join right away," he thought to himself.
Then Adam said goodbye to his mother and sister and he followed Jared and the others outside. He closed the door behind him. Adam looked in front of him and he saw a black SUV on the road. He stared at it unable to move and Jared had to drag Adam into the car. They got in and the next thing Adam knew was they were going to Ottumwa, Iowa to the agency, 'Owl City.'
