The day finally arrived for my date with Alex and I was super excited to finally get some time with him outside of work. The day dragged of course, but it was finally time for me to get ready. Keira had decided to go out with some friends, so I had to begin getting ready on my own and that worried me. I wasn't as good with makeup as she was but I had to try and make a good effort so I would impress Alex.

After showering, moisturising and blow-drying my hair, I proceeded to apply my makeup for the evening, taking over two hours to do it. I kept doing one eye different to the other and trying to use liquid eyeliner which I repeatedly wiped off and re-did. My foundation didn't look dewy and flawless like when Keira did it, but more caked and heavy. I never did this type of full look for work; most of the time I didn't even wear foundation for work. I was lucky to have good skin but this was a date, I had to go all out.

I groaned out loud as I touched my nose with the mascara wand and grabbed a wipe to clear the black smudge away, meaning I had to touch up my foundation there. As soon as I heard the door slam, I gasped and jumped up, running to my bedroom door where Keira was approaching. Her eyes widened as she saw my face and she giggled.

'Stop it!' I snapped. 'I had to start without you and look at the state of me!'

'It's not that bad,' she laughed, as we headed into my room. 'Come on, sit down. Let me fix it.'

I did as I was told and sat, thankful that I didn't have to endure applying any more products and I could just relax and leave it all to Keira. We chatted as she worked on my face and finally, she finished off with some stick on lashes and a lipstick. I studied my face in the mirror and was happy with the look. It was very simple but a lot better than what I had attempted to do on myself.

'What are you going to do with my hair?' I asked her.

'You know what, I like it like that,' she said.

'But I haven't done anything to it,' I told her. 'I've only blow dried it.'

'Exactly and it looks big and voluminous,' she said, grabbing some hair spray from the dresser. She moved my hair about and threw the top over to the side before spraying it. 'This looks great!'

I studied it in the mirror and nodded. 'Okay, yeah, I agree, it looks okay.'

'More than okay,' she corrected me. 'You look stunning. What are you wearing?'

'Well, I don't know where he's taking me so I figured I'd stay clear of wearing a dress but avoid being too casual either,' I said, as I pointed over to the outfit laid on the bed. 'High-waisted jeans, a little vest incase it gets too warm and my pinstripe blazer.'

'You always wear that blazer,' she mumbled.

'Yes, but it's smart casual so no matter where we go I will just blend in,' I told her.

'Unless it's somewhere really extravagant where the women are all in gowns and Alex is wearing a tuxedo...then you're going to feel underdressed,' she said.
