As soon as I turned on my phone it blew up with notifications. I worked my way through them, letting Kam know I was fine, letting Keira know I was fine, wishing them both a happy Christmas and I was happy to see their texts saying they loved their gifts.

As I was about to open my texts from Caden, my stomach turning anxiously, I jumped when the phone rang and I sighed softly before chuckling when I saw Kam's name. He hadn't hesitated to call me right away the second I'd texted him.

'Merry Christmas,' I answered.

'There you are!' Kam exclaimed. 'Merry Christmas to you too! I went to your apartment on Sunday but Keira said I had just missed you and told me you're home in Salisbury!'

'I am,' I replied. 'I was always coming here on Christmas Eve anyway; I just came a day early because...well, you know.'

'Yes, I certainly do know,' Kam sighed. 'God, are you okay? You just ran off and nobody really knew what to do or say.'

'I had to get out of the situation,' I replied. 'I'm home now and I've spent time talking with my Mum and she's really helped me realise a few things. God, Kam, how did you cope with me being such an arsehole all that time?'

'What do you mean?' Kam asked.

'Acting all rebellious and uncaring and fucking annoying!' I exclaimed, and smiled when I heard him laugh.

'You were a fucking nightmare but you were just going through a phase to block out all of your problems and I get that,' Kam told me. 'We've all been there. I can tell that you've come out of it already. You sound so much calmer and happier and healthier.'

'Oh god, Kam, I went out wearing a bloody dress with my tits fully on show, what the hell was I thinking?' I cringed torturously at the memory.

'You weren't thinking, A,' Kam laughed. 'You had your existential crisis and now you're back to the old Ava and as much as wild Ava was a bad bitch at times and I loved it, I'm glad she's gone because ultimately, she was a fucking pain in the ass!'

'I cried to my mother when I got home and told her everything,' I told him.

'Did you tell her about Caden?' he asked, and the sound of his name made my heart race.

'Yes,' I replied. 'I told her everything. She wasn't too pleased about me sleeping with my boss but she was cool.'

'And the part about him saying he loves you?' Kam questioned.

'Mum says she believes him,' I laughed.

'And you don't?' Kam asked.

'Oh, I don't know, Kam,' I sighed. 'It's very hard to believe.'

'Not for me,' Kam said. 'But then again, you ran off and didn't hear what happened after that.'

'Oh, what do you mean?' I asked, feeling anxious again.
