The Political Problem (Pick your side)

Pick your side
One side ignores the rot
One side fights what's not
Both are insufficient
And incapable of
Addressing what
They want to see met
The most
And they both want the same kind of thing
They just fight over everything
They'll stab each others' backs
If one of them dissents
They'll burn down their friend's shack
If he thinks he should repent
From what he knows is pointless
Pointless bickering
Contradicting themselves
Just to pick at the other
Neither can be wrong
Yet they both are at once
To each other all the time
But pick your side
You have to pick a side
Otherwise I'm sorry
To say
To you
You don't count
Your voice cannot matter
So submit as they pin you up
Against the door
And feed you enough
That you'll drop to the floor
Forget all your points
And be begging them
For more
It's not right
But pick a side
Pick your poison
And heal yourself
With more pain
What a shame
They thrive off your anger
And they hurt you
To heal the wounds
So they can stab them once more
Occasionally they'll flip a coin
To see which one
Will care about joining
The groups which they
Insist are divided
And if they're ever
Not
They'll do it
Themselves
They'll give you hell
And then they'll ask you
To spread it far and well
Don't have a belief
That they don't approve
But if you do
Stay
But hate yourself
And your parents too
"Your life doesn't matter
The other side will kill you
Or we'll do it ourselves."

It's not about money
It's just about
What's right
Doing what's right
No!
Being what's right,
No!
Saying what's right!
That's what we do
And we're always true
True to you
What we say is what's best
Life is a test
But a meaningless one too
Let them educate you
But if you borrow
Some of what's Right and what is
Left
Both of them will detest
You
Ooh, I wish it wasn't true
They'll flip the coin
To see which one
Has to deal with being racist
For the next couple years

And if you love God
And therefore love your neighbor
They'll both abhor you
You're a Heathen, False Prophet, or a bigot
What you say you should always rue
For their only gods
Are minorities
To pretend to be oppressed
Or pretend not to be
Either way
They'll throw them out
Once they've used them
For the day

Can't you see the truth
To both of them you're not worth
A thing
But the other side is always still
Somehow worse for you
Are you a Nazi leader or a Devil-worshipper?
You choose
Don't you see now
Both ways you lose

When someone came along
To right what was wrong
And be against the establishment
But provide a solution for all
No matter what side of the
Symmetrical turd
They made it certain
That he would be downed
And carried away
Like a hunted bird

Both of them want chaos
In these Divided States
Yet both of their common cause
Is that they wouldn't have it any other way
Even though it's messed up today
They both love the pain
That their country endures
Because of themselves
All of the news
Is meant to fuel hate
In you
But there is hope
Maybe just move away

There is no more real leadership
Only corruption
And adult children
Poking each others' eyes out
It doesn't matter what side
Of the bridge
You jump off
Either way you die
But pick your side
Eat up the bird berries
Or the blue dart frog
They both offer more grog
In this sinking
Sinking pirate ship
There is nowhere to hide
So just pick a side
