JAMES FENTON.
༺ ❀ ༻OPHELIA CLOSED HER EYES, trying her best to keep her mind from wandering crazily like it had been for the past 24 hours or so.
she looked out at the water, watching as the waves smoothly reflected the sun. she wondered what kind of creatures lived under those beautiful waves of salt water, and if any of them had the same problems as her.
she shook the silly question from her head, firmly placing her hands at her sides as she bowed slowly. she inhaled deeply, and then exhaled. she did a few basic kicks, and then did a few blocking motions with her arms, trying to focus on the seagulls in front of her and not on the intruding thoughts in her head.
"hey, is that karate or something?"
her eyes widened as she lost focus and fell out of her balanced one-foot stance, knocking herself backwards. but before she could fall into the hot sand, a pair of strong arms caught her from behind.
she looked over her shoulder, gasping slightly when her eyes met a pair of beautiful breath-taking blue ones; the very blue ones that belonged to the mystery guy who had caught her.
his smirk dropped as he helped prop her back up, "whoa, what happened to your eye? that looks pretty bad," he cringed, trying to curiously poke at it before ophelia swatted his hand away.
"it looks worse than it feels, don't worry." she said, waving his concerns off. the boy basfully stood there, a moment of awkward silence cutting between them.
then, the boy cleared his throat and held out his hand for her to shake. "i'm james. it's nice to meet you," he smiled politely.
ophelia instantly returned the smile as she took his hand in hers, giving it a firm shake as she ignored the way his touch sent lightning bolts up her arm muscles. "i'm ophelia. nice to meet you too. and to answer your question from before, yes i was doing karate."
james' smile brightened as his baby blue eyes glimmered with delight. "i love your name! mine is so boring, yours is so unique."
this made ophelia blush as she looked down at their still intertwined hands. "yeah, i'm not a big fan of my name. but james is a cool name," she winked at the grinning boy, who followed her gaze to their hands. but instead of letting go, he tightened his hand in her grasp.
james flickered his gaze to the extremely worn-out skateboard that idly sat in the sand a small distance away from the two. "you skate too? damn! you're my dream girl." he slyly implied, earning a sarcastic smile from ophelia.
"hardy-har-har, casanova. slow your roll a bit, and i might give you a chance." she giggled, smiling shyly.
"well, hey! you seem really interesting. would you mind maybe going somewhere with me sometime? i just moved here yesterday, and i could use some company while exploring the town." he implied happily. ophelia wondered how this guy could be so upbeat.
"l-like a date?" ophelia wondered aloud, and james' eyebrows crinkled together as he stepped away slightly disconnecting their hands. "would that be okay with you?" he asked warily.
"of course!" ophelia exclaimed a bit too quickly, but james only laughed and chose to not comment on her excitement.
"great. here's my number—" james said, gripping a pen from his back pocket. he scribbled number messily across her tanned arm. "—call me when you want to make a plan! cya, ophelia." he waved goofily as he curled his arms around his own skateboard, stumbling off into the distance.
as she watched him stumble off, her mind was lingering on james. not daniel.
and she didn't know what to think about that.

AUTHOR'S NOTE; so what do we think of james?
sorry that this was kind of short, i want this story to have its own type of outside storyline; i just don't want to copy the movie word-for-word and make it boring, ya know?
