IT WAS SIX-THIRTY IN THE MORNING WHEN Ophelia June skated up to Mister Miyagi's house/den. Tears were streaming down her red cheeks silently.
She knocked on the door lightly, flinching when she knocked a little too hard on accident. "Mister Miyagi?" She squeaked out.
The door creaked open a sliver, the said man peeking his round face out of the small crack of the door, his eyebrows instantly crinkling together in concern.
"Ophelia~San, what is wrong?" he asked, his voice soft but tired as he softly grabbed her forearm and lead her inside the dark household.
Ophelia shook her head, choking back a sob. "M-My Mom said she was leaving to Mexico to get married to this stupid guy she just met at the bar, a-and she left me in the dust with only $20. I-I'm sorry for being a burden Mister Miyagi, I-I had no idea where else to go—"
Miyagi only shook his head, waving her off as he motioned for him to follow him into the kitchen. "Ah, don't be ridiculous Miss Ophelia~San. You no burden, you are like daughter to Miyagi." he smiled kindly to the sniffling girl, pouring water into a large tea kettle before placing it on the stovetop.
Ophelia smiled tearfully, "Awe Miyagi, are you gettin' soft on me?" she joked, her tone soft nonetheless.
Mister Miyagi tutted at her words, waddling into the den and walking back in with a small pink blanket, wrapping it carefully around her frail shoulders. "Miyagi take care of Ophelia~San until Mother get back, hai?" he patted her shoulder before walking shortly over back to stand in front of the lit stove.
"R-Really?" Ophelia asked, calming down a bit more. Miyagi had only invited her over for the night if she really needed it, which was usual but he never let her stay over for more than one night.
Miyagi nodded, still facing away from her and at the stove. "Of course."
Ophelia's mouth twisted into a grin so wide that it hurt her cheeks. "Thank you Miyagi," she said, and Miyagi grunted in return. She instinctively went in for a large hug, but remembered who it was.
She bowed gratefully to Miyagi, before trudging into the den. She plopped down onto the small mattress while holding the pink blanket close to her shaking body; it was chilly outside.
