Father's Day.
What a confusing thing for Morro, as he had never known his birth father, however, the other children that learned from Sensei Wu informed him that it was a day to celebrate a person that loves you a lot.
So Morro chose the one person that he had close relations with.
Sensei Wu.
He was scared. What if he didn't love him like the way a father should, according to the kids. What if he hated it, and kicked him out?
Father's Day came and Morro clutched the card in his hands. He spent all night preparing it, and as soon as the chicken clucked, signalling that mostly everyone that lived in this monastery, (Wu and Morro) should wake up. His soft, padded footsteps neared the room where Sensei was in, and he gently knocked on the door. Wu answered it, rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning Morro. What brings you here this early?" He asked. Morro blushed. Maybe he should have brought the card later in the day.
"Happy Father's Day Sensei!" Morro quickly thrust the card in Wu's hands, and waited there for an answer.
Wu's eyes scanned the paper, which had the word's HAPPY FATHER'S DAY SENSEI! scrawled all over the top, with a little drawing of 2 stick figures, one big, one small. His eyes filled up with tears, as he remember the days where he and his brother would hand cards like these early in the morning of the special day.
"Do you not like it? I can leave if you want to!" Morro said, slightly panicked.
"And why would I want you to leave?" Wu asks.
"Because you don't like the card. You're crying." Morro added.
"Morro, these are happy tears. I'm happy you gave this card to me." Wu kneeled down to Morro's height, and embraced him.
"Oh. Okay." Morro embraced him back, and the two father-son duo sat there, enjoying each others company.
That is, until the chicken nearly electrocuted them.
