As the days dragged Harry found himself dreading school more than he had ever thought he would. They had found out that Umbridge was the new high inquisitor over the school, she had been in and out of classes all week and intrupting classes with he stupid little coughs.
That's not the only thing though Harry had started to realize how important his grades were this year; he needed to study more but he would have to try to not get anymore detention so he could focus more.
But of course that wouldn't happen anytime soon.
Later in the day while Harry was in Care for magical creatures Umbridge had walked out to supervise again. As they were going through class Umbridge started to ask questions like usual and just to make matters worse she just had to ask about if there had ever been any injuries.
"Now, I hear there have been injuries in this class?"
Goyle gave a stupid grin. Malfoy hastened to answer the question.
"That was me," he said. "I was slashed by a hippogriff."
"A hippogriff?" said Professor Umbridge, now scribbling frantically.
"Only because he was too stupid to listen to what Hagrid told him to do," said Harry angrily. Both Ron and Hermione groaned.
Professor Umbridge turned her head slowly in Harry's direction. "Another night's detention, I think," she said softly. "Well, thank you very much, Professor Grubbly-Plank, I think that's all I need here. You will be receiving the results of your inspection within ten days."
"Jolly good," said Professor Grubbly-Plank, and Professor Umbridge set off back across the lawn to the castle.
Harry was getting tired of just going back to detention for every little retort he had said; he knew he needed to stop talking but it always just "kinda" slipped out, but he was willing to say what was the truth, anything just to get under the skin.
------------------------------------------
Later that night Harry found himself walking out of Umbridge's office around midnight. It was dark and cold in the hallways with nothing but the sound of wind brushing up against the walls of the old school. He took off his scarf and wrapped it around his bleeding hand, filling the sting from it as he tried to gently wrap it up.
As he walked through the portrait he felt the instant warmth of the common room overtake his body. Harry expected the common room to be empty but was pleasantly surprised to see that Ron and Hermione had stayed up waiting for him.
"Here," Hermione said anxiously, pushing a small bowl of yellow liquid toward him, "soak your hand in that, it's a solution of strained and pickled murtlap tentacles, it should help."
Harry set his hand down into the bowl of the yellow liquid feeling the wonderful feeling of relief course through him. His hand had started to feel instantly better within seconds;like it wasn't even there. Crookshanks curled around his legs purring loudly and then hopped onto his lap.
"Thanks" said Harry scratching behind Crookshanks ears with his left hand.
"I reckon that you complain to someone about this." said Ron.
"No" said Harry flattly
"Mcgonall would go nuts if she knew-"
"I reckon she would" Harry said "What to say that next time someone complains about Umbridge that she won't just pass another decree that says anyone who complains gets sacked."
"She's awful," Hermione said in a small voice, "Awful. Just before you came in, Ron and I were talking about how we need to do something about her."
