In this blog post I am going to share seven different face shapes and what accessories best suit them. If you don't know what face shape you have, just read the description that I have written for every one of the seven face shapes, then look in the mirror at the shape of your face to see which description best suits your face.
The Oval Face Shape
You will have an oval face shape if your face is longer than it is wide. Your jaw is narrower than your cheekbones. This is one of the more easier face shapes to style because of the perfect proportions this face shape values. Celebrities that have this face shape are: Courtney Cox, Rihanna, Julia Roberts, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.People with this face shape are lucky because practically any type of earring will go with their shape! In my opinion, the best choices of earrings for this face shape are triangular earrings or simple studs because they best show off the cheekbones.
The same rule goes for earrings as it does necklaces, almost anything goes! But the most flattering type of necklace are ones that don't elongate your face even longer. Opt for shorter necklaces rather than longer ones.
Some sunglasses for this face shape are: rectangular, aviators and round.
The Round Face Shape
You will have a round face shape if your hairline is perceived as wide and you will have fullness below the cheekbones.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Mila Kunis, Isla Fisher, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst and Olivia Munn. With a round shaped face, your aim is to elongate the face and make it appear slimmer. Drop or dangle earrings will best work when trying to achieve this. But with this face shape, you also want to avoid large circular earrings, hoops and button studs which only add emphasis to the fullness of your face.
For necklaces, try and look for angular jewellery that contrasts with the lines of your face. Try opting for teardrop or more narrow shaped earrings to help add more angles to the outline of the face. Avoid wearing necklaces that make the face appear wider than it already is, such as circular earrings. A great type of necklace to wear is a long, V-shaped necklace as this helps to create balance to your look.
Some sunglasses for this face shape are: wayfarers, rounded bottoms and rectangular.
The Square Face Shape
You will have a square face shape if you have a wide hairline and jawline. This face shape should avoid straight lines as much as possible.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock and Katie Holmes.Women with this face shape need to soften the hard edges of their face. To do this they need to go for earrings that are medium to long in length with round edges. Earrings with oval shapes soften all of the face's features whilst circular earrings and hoop earrings can look good too. But stay away from square studs or any type of earring with a square shape to it as this will only emphasise your face shape.
Choose necklaces that helps to soften the appearance. Pick necklaces that have curves or circles as this helps to soften the face. Avoid harsh, geometric designs.
Some sunglasses for this face shape are: cat eye, round and aviators.
The Diamond Face Shape
You will have a diamond face shape if you have a narrow chin and forehead whilst having wide cheekbones. This is the most rare out of the face shapes.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez.Long and elegant drop earrings are the perfect shape to counterbalance this face shape since it helps to fill the area around the lower jaw and draw more attention to the mouth.
Just like the oval shape, the diamond face is already long in length, so try and avoid styles that only add emphasis to this area. Instead, go for shorter styles that complement the width. Necklaces that have rectangular pendants, broad curves and collars make the best options for this face shape.
Some sunglasses for this face shapes are: round, oval and aviators.
The Heart Face Shape
You will have a heart face shape if you have a wide forehead and a narrow chin.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Cheryl Cole, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson. With this face shape, you need earrings that help to balance out your sharp chin. To do this, you can pair your features with chandelier or teardrop earrings. To make your face appear more balanced and proportional, go for earrings that are wider at the bottom than the top.
Avoid long necklaces that create a "V" shape because this will only add emphasis to your pointed chin. Instead, choose short necklaces with curves or round pearls to create fullness around your neck. With this face shape, you can layer necklaces and make your face shape look great doing so.
Some sunglasses for this face shape are: cat eye, aviators and chunky with high angles.
The Pear Face Shape
The pear face shape, (which is also referred to as the triangular face shape) is identified by a small or narrow forehead and a larger jawline.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Kelly Osbourne, Kate Walsh, Ali Larter and Sophia Bush.Don't think that just because you have this face shape, you are limited to wearing only certain earring types. The best type of earrings and the most flattering for this face shape are designs that are wider at the top than the bottom as it helps to add more balance to the face. Try avoiding earrings that are wider at the bottom than the top as this will make your face appear bottom-heavy. If all else fails, pair your look with some diamond studs.
For this face shape, you'll want to take emphasis away from the jawline whilst making the forehead appear wider. Your aim is to make the face have a longer appearance, so try longer necklaces with a striking pendant to add visual harmony.
Some sunglasses for this face shape are: aviators, clubmaster, oval and rectangular.
The Oblong Face Shape
The oblong face shape is recognised by its very long and narrow bone structure.
Celebrities that have this face shape are: Teri Hatcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sandra Oh, Lisa Kudrow and Liv Tyler.Stud and short earrings work perfectly with this face shape as it helps to give the illusion that the face is wider and it can help to draw more attention to the eyes. Try and work with earring colours that match the colour of your eyes to draw even more attention to the area.
This face shape can look a little like the oval face shape with some differences. This face has longer and narrower tendencies so try opting for necklaces such as chokers, shorter necklaces with a wide curve or circular pendants.
The best sunglasses for this face shape are: round frames, square frames and slightly oversized styles.
