If you are a fashion freak like me, you'll know how hard it is to save money and how easy it is to spend it.
I have spent most of my life saving up for the luxurious things in life, but then I have to spend money on something more important and then I have to save up for the luxurious things all over again. It's a tricky situation.
Life can sometimes be a hard game, but the way I see it is that you have to know what you're talking about in order to get to where you want to go in life.
In this blog post I am going to be sharing with you my top five budget style tips and how I save money on fashion, (and how YOU CAN TOO!)
This post can be about any type of spending, it doesn't have to be limited down to only fashion. Because there are many types of treats in the world, so you might want to know how to budget for stuff in general. Well if that's the case, this post is for you.So stick around and at the end of the blog post, you can give yourself a pat on the back for reading all the way through and I'll wish you good luck for your future spendings!
1: "Should I Buy This?"
A good way to find out if you should buy something, is by asking yourself: "should I buy this?" and if you are left asking yourself the same question for more than five minutes, well....I'm sure you've got your answer. Most of the time, if you hold something that you are tempted to buy but it's on impulse rather than being practical, you will move on to something else and you will completely forget about the item you were debating on buying.
But if you walk away from an item that you asked the question about and are still thinking about the item and asking yourself the question five minutes later, it's a keeper.
2: Shop the basics.
When shopping, we tend to go crazy and buy all of the things that catches our eye.But that's wrong.
Instead, you should start with the basics.
Yes....I mean what I say.
Because when you go crazy on shopping day, you will buy all of the intriguing and impulsive things and then you won't have anything left for the essentials.
So it's best to shop for the essentials before you shop for the unnecessary items that you feel your closet desires.
The "basics" that I'm talking about are items like socks, underwear, LBDs, button-up shirts, wrap dresses and other items along those lines.
But things like an expensive dress that you found on your hunt for new clothes and want to buy because you think that your ex will love seeing you in the dress at the other side of the party....let's be honest, it's not an essential.
Just remember that all of the fanciest and stylish closets were once made of only the basics. But the reason why it is the way it is, is because the owner of the closet learnt to be patient, and with time, they managed build up their wardrobe into what it is today.
3: Sell or swap with friends.
Do you have any trendy, stylish friends who are willing to swap clothes with you? Well you should be a step ahead and plan it with them.If you want to earn more money and don't mind taking money from your friends, you could ask your friends for money when you gift them your clothes but if not, you could do a clothes swap with some of your stylish friends.
If there is a piece that your friend has worn that you have fallen head-over-heels for, you could ask them to tell you whenever they are getting rid of it or whenever they are fed up of it so that they can give it to you, (and you can exchange with them in return.)
4: Shop for things on sale.
You might feel cheap if you look for clothes on sale, but I promise you that you will feel so much better when you have lots of clothes for a better price. If there is an item of clothing that you like in a store, keep searching that item: weekly, daily, to see when the item that you've been admiring goes on sale and as soon as it does....you can give yourself permission to buy it!
Shopping for items in the sale are one of the best, (and easiest if you want to put it that way) ways to save money whilst you still want the use of the good stuff.
The best part about shopping in the sales is that you can buy more stuff for an ultimately less price to what you would without the sales. So if you are a person who prefers having lots of stuff in her basket that is cheaper in price rather than one item that is worth thousands of pounds, you will prefer to shop in the sales rather than for the most expensive items.
5: Set a budget for yourself.
If you have little income, or like myself, most of your income is going more towards the important parts of your life....you probably won't have that much money at the end of each month to spend on clothes.Setting a budget in general is such an important and responsible part of your life and I cannot stress enough how much you will benefit from budgeting.
If you are a fashion lover and love spending money on clothes, I would suggest that you make a budget for yourself.Starting with the little things such as how much you should spend each season or each month on clothes and things related to fashion.
If you have a lot of money coming in and don't need to save up for anything important, you can set a higher budget for yourself than you would if you had little money or had to save up for a house or a car.
I would suggest that you set a budget for each season rather than for each month as that might get a little complicating.
If you are in desperate need of clothes but don't have the extra money for it, you should consider selling some of your own clothes to get money in order to buy some more.
Well, that's it for my money/budget saving tips.
I think that when you are young you are naive. And when you are naive you don't think clearly. Which means that you won't be so strict with your spendings and savings.I hope that whenever you need advice on fashion budget tips or just money saving advice in general, you refer back to this blog post.
And if you're still unsure about how to save money because you're like me and all your money seems to be wasting away on clothes, (but come on, would that really be a waste?) you can ask for some advice down in the comments section below and I will happily respond to any troubles that you are facing.
Here's a question of the day for you: if you had access to an unlimited supply of cash, where would it go towards and why? Would it be fashion related or something completely different?
